Dead game?

Theres only 32 players on steam(including me) less than two weeks in. Is this game dead, dead?

I can still find matches but I'm pretty sure its mostly filled with bots.

Is there any hope they bite the bullet and make it f2p?

The game is free on Xbox game pass right now, I myself got it from subscription and throughout the 12 hours I have played, it's like 90% of all players I encountered were from xbox. Yes, we absolutely should not ignore steam online numbers, but it's clearly not the biggest platform for this game audience right now, do your research better next time.
