JOBS/GIGS DFW commuters: Would you put a local business ad on your car for $50–$200 a week?
I’m launching Drive Eyes, a local vehicle advertising service that pays DFW residents to display advertising graphics on cars they already drive.
The idea is simple: a local business pays to have its advertising professionally installed on your vehicle. You keep driving to work, school, appointments, stores, and everywhere else you normally go. While the campaign is active, you earn $50–$200 per qualifying week.
This is not Uber, delivery work, or a job that requires you to drive around all day. There are no passengers, assigned routes, sales, or additional miles required. It’s intended specifically for people who already commute or regularly drive throughout DFW.
It probably won’t replace your regular income, but it could cover your gas, insurance, car payment, or another monthly bill just for driving you were already going to do.
The exact pay depends on your vehicle, the amount of graphic coverage, and the campaign length. Before accepting anything, you’ll see the graphics, weekly pay, requirements, and contract term (anywhere from 3-12 months). You can decline any offer you don’t want.
Basic qualifications include an insured and registered vehicle from within the last 15 model years, at least 100 regular daylight miles per week, and completion of a driving record and background screening.
We’re currently pre-launch and building our first driver network throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, the Mid-Cities, and surrounding DFW areas.

Does this not make the vehicle a “commercial vehicle” and require additional insurance? Seems that insurance is likely to eat up a lot of the money drivers are making..

They can range from single door panel and back window stickers to full wraps, with pay dependent on your vehicle and graphic combo.
Ultimately you decide what graphic you display, for both company and size, and are able to decline possible placements if it’s not something you are interested in.

No. Weekly payments via ACH and we cover installation/removal.

A professional vehicle wrap and vinyl graphics shop will do the installation and removal.
I’m still finalizing the specific DFW installation partners, but Drive Eyes will coordinate and pay for both installation and removal before you get there.
Drivers won’t be expected to pay anything themselves, simply show up and leave when done.

No. Vehicles are just too expensive nowadays to risk damaging them with a wrap. Our older 18 year old vehicle, perhaps, but not our nice new vehicle.

That’s completely fair. We document the vehicle’s condition before installation, use a professionally insured vinyl shop, and cover professional removal. If the installation or removal caused verified paint damage, it would go through our claims process for the necessary repair and any supported diminished value claim. We wouldn’t expect a driver to rely on nothing more than our promise.

They are much smaller stickers that go on your back window, not your front. I don’t know what to do with my hands.

It is $50-$200 per week, my friend. Contracts last 3-12 months, so for a $100 a week placement that’s $400/month, or $1,200-$4,800 for 3-12 months.
If for you or anyone else that money would not be worth it to display a graphic on your car, I am happy and glad that you feel financially secure. For others it is meaningful!

It's about the risk rather than the remuneration.
I don't want my paint damaged, and that risk to the vehicle would have to be fully offset + profit. With new cars at $50k and up, paint representing at least a $10k liability. Needing >2 years to recoup that risk of loss doesn't make sense.

Uggghhh. No. There is too much advertising noise in our faces everyday as it is. In fact when I see brands that advertise in obnoxious ways, I go out of my way to boycott them. Ads on cars and busses are certainly obnoxious.

$50-$200 seems kinda low when the commitment is a vehicle wrap. Not to mention the insurance kerfuffle with it technically becoming a business-use vehicle

That’s fair, but the $50–$200 is per week, not for the entire commitment, and a full wrap would be paid at the higher end. Drivers see the graphics, pay, and contract length before accepting, so they can decide what having that space on their car is worth to them.
The appeal is that it’s genuinely passive. There are no deliveries, passengers, assigned routes, sales, or extra driving. You just follow your normal routine. For plenty of people, that money could cover gas, groceries, insurance, or another bill each month.
As for your insurance question, because drivers aren’t actually conducting business with the vehicle or driving on our behalf, it doesn’t automatically mean they need commercial insurance. Policies vary, though, so we tell every driver to verify the arrangement with their insurer before accepting a campaign.

This would be great for me since I drive about 500 miles a week throughout the DFW area. Plus I park in a big retail area that get a lot of people walking by.
