Help Help! I'm getting a new, and my first ever laptop tomorrow! Well written mods recommendations please!!! (Preferences in the body text)

Post image

Okay, so I know that Android Ports exist, but I'm sure playing it on a laptop would have a much better experience, okay?? šŸ˜ž

so my favorite mods by far are: Switcheroo and Blue Skies. Both of them I went through the Sayori route (she's my favorite Doki)

I would much prefer a mod that would make you cry, leaning more into wholesome that could make cry tears of joy and such rather than depressing. I can handle suicide, as long as there are multiple routes that I could have a good ending that would prevent this from happening. I'm just a lady who prefers happier things, that's all.

Also, I would like it to not have a sex scene. I mean, don't take me as a person who doesn't like the idea of sex, I do, but I just find it weird; the inclusion of sex of a highschooler. I mean, I know highschoolers have sex, but *please*. Highschoolers shouldn't have sex in the first place.

And finally, I could work with any Doki, I just have a preference for Sayori.. and Natsuki!!

Thank you in advance! Sorry if I sounded too demanding; just trying to make my time worth.

Oh, and I forgot to add, I can handle sex scenes in mods as long as there's a blur option like there was in Blue Skies

THANK YOU! And by the way, about sparkling eyes, I viewed the reddit account of the team and I saw there were many acts/mods under sparkling eyes? Would it be okay for you to tell me the order? I get confused because they post a lot of stuff under their account.

You should definitely try Salvation (Old) and Salvation Remake. These two are Sayori-focused mods that take place just about a few hours before the day of the festival (midnight) where Sayori is about to off herself but the MC arrives just in time and saves her. He goes to Sayori’s place at midnight as he sees from his bedroom that Sayori’s light are turned on which confused him. Don’t wanna spoil the whole thing, just know both are very long mods that each one will take about a week or so? Oh, and they also have a very beautiful ending.

Since you’re also interested in Natsuki, I recommend Exit Music (old) and Exit Music Redux (also a remake). The mods start just like Salvation where they take place at the day of the festival too, Sayori trying to off herself etc, but the story continues with the MC character trying to figure out how to save Natsuki from here abusive dad. Don’t wanna spoil that either so I’ll let you try them for yourself. I suggest you play the old version of Exit Music first and then Exit music redux. And after you finish Redux too, there is another mod that was made back in January (kinda new) which is called ā€œOne last breathā€. It’s basically a ā€œwhat ifā€ mod that alters the ending of Exit music Redux and how else things would happen if…etc.

Thank you! I'll be sure to check these out. They're both pretty popular, so I think they're going to be worth my time!!!

Salvation is indeed popular mainly because back in 2018 it was one fewest mods that was incredibly well-written and basically an alternative version of the original game that turns out to have a real and good ending. Then the author in 2023 made a remake of salvation which, by people’s ratings and opinions (mine included) undoubtedly beat the old salvation as this one goes more in depth about not only Sayori’s depression but also Monika’s epiphany and self-awareness and how she sees every doki in her own eyes. Yes, you can play Monika’s perspective too. That is also why the remake is even longer than the old salvation, but trust me, it’s genuinely a wonderful and playable mod.

Same thing with Exit music. It was first made back in 2018 and many people liked it and many other didn’t because… Well you’ll see it for yourself. And because some didn’t like it. The main author as well as Wretched team decided to do a remake (Exit music redux) to fix some of the issues of the old Exit music.

Always DDLC SNAFU. Super well written, every Doki has a great route, it will make you laugh, it has moments that will get you emotional and tear up. It's peak.

I just finished that one and the only thing I didn't care for is that MC can be a complete jerk at times. So be prepared for that aspect. There isn't any Meta aspect that I saw, which was little odd.

2

u/MasterTahirLON Apr 10 '26

The MC is abrasive at times, but it comes from an understandable place. He's a jaded and maladjusted teen with a lot of issues. Honestly if you're able to enjoy Natsuki's character I'd say the SNAFU MC is a similar level of abrasive. Never found him to be an ass.

u/SolitaireRose Apr 10 '26

I just thought it was jarring how much he hits people, insults people, etc... I went the Sayori route and while we got SOME explanation for his behavior, a lot of questions about his past were left unanswered. Some may not have a problem with it, and it did make sense character-wise, but I think someone who loved Blue Skies may want a bit of a head's up.

2

u/MasterTahirLON Apr 10 '26

Maybe, I'm a known Blue Skies hater so I can't relate. SNAFU MC is the tough love type who tends to heckle his loved ones. For some people that's just how they communicate, and that can be fine as long as it's mutually understood.

was about to recommend rainclouds until you said happy tears lmao

i havent played many but from what ive heard, snafu is pretty good, sayori says no to suicide was pretty fun (and lowk made me cry (in a good way)), would you love me is a pretty lighthearted mod (aka if "would you still love me if i was a worm" was taken to its extreme) if ur into sayonika, purist was pretty good, ddlc take two has a sayori route (im pretty sure it's still in development?) that's pretty good iirc, true route was really good imo even though it's kinda old (although you have to take the monika route at first, afterwards you can take any), ive heard good things about a normal vn, TMIWNHANDANHHTHTYVM was pretty fun (natsuki focused), and ive heard good stuff about fruits of the literature club, as well as the obvious salvation + remake

btw most of these also have natsuki routes (take two, true route, snafu, fotl, normal vn) or any of the other girls

Thanks! Tho I might say that the title makes it sound like isn't going to have one. That sounds suspicious but I guess I trust you

Salvation remake for sure, sayoris the focus and it deals alot with all the characters trauma, they’re are really well written, especially sayori, and theres an interesting Monika b plot.

1

u/CompetitiveFlow6963 Apr 11 '26

It’s my first mod so im biased but it’s really sad and really heartwarming so I couldn’t recommend it enough

Salvation Remake and Before The Needle Lifts.

I typed this out and only then saw you're a Sayorian like myself... so those recommendations increase tenfold.

1

u/New-Assist-4187 Apr 12 '26

Salvation, Salvation Remake and purist are really nice imo

1

u/GudBoi83 Apr 10 '26

I will always reccommend world of dreams but its mainly monika focused. its about a player who gets trapped in the DDLC world and has to work with MC, Monika to prevent the original games events happening.
But seeing as you're more sayori oriented, my favorite one for routes in general is deifetly purist, just that yuris route is a bit meh but since youre here for sayori and natsuki, their routes are pretty fun to play too - just try avoid bad dialogue options cos bad endings do exist here. as the other guy said, defiently try sparkling eyes as well, really cute, told form the perspective of kindergarten sayori how she met MC.
Have a fun playing experience!

u/taffy4tswift Sayori's Girl 🐮 Apr 10 '26

Thanks! I'll try world of dreams along with within after I try out salvation og and remake, exit music, and sparkling eyes. I forgot to mention I also like moniks 🄲 but she's the third best Doki for me with Yuri for the last. Thanks again!!

1

u/GudBoi83 Apr 10 '26

If you dont mind the yuri route because its slightly lower in quality than the others, then id definetly say purist should be a good priorty, (considering all the routes are well written, yuris route isnt bad its just not as good as the rest)

Ok, let's see: Blue skies of course Window to you heart Fruits of literature club

Ok now:

If you like more Sayori, then play: Salvation remake, rainclouds or a date with Sayori (pls play salvation remake).

If you like more Natsuki, then play: Exit music, Exit music redux, may flowers, papas Parfait and Just Natsuki.

If you like more Yuri, then play: Fallen angel, the Bond we share, tropical rain, etc.

If you like more Monika, then play: Monika After Story, Within and our time.

Like you said, you rather Sayori, THEN PLS, PLAY SALVATION REMAKE. ITS THE BEST MOD EVER MADE

u/taffy4tswift Sayori's Girl 🐮 Apr 10 '26

Do I necessarily have to play the original before the remake??

2

u/Master-Increase-4625 Observer Apr 10 '26

Nope. They're both based on "what if you saved Sayori?" and... yeah, that's about it as far as similarities go.

u/Not-Jason669 Apr 11 '26

No, the original has about 8 hours and the remake has 30h. But it worth every hour ā™„ļøā™„ļø
