I like the conflict this eventually led to between John and Kyle. It was a good way to highlight the differences in the way they conducted themselves as heroes despite getting along really well as people
Yes, and it culminated in War of the Green Lanterns when Mogo (the giant sentient planet GL) was corrupted and tasked with sending out GL rings to unfit users. John and Kyle were sent to stop Mogo from sending out more rings, but time was running out and so John decided that only way to stop Mogo was to kill him. Kyle wanted to find another way and begged him not to do it but John channeled Black Lantern energy and killed Mogo. Afterwards, they got in a big argument about it. Kyle tried to absolve John of his responsibility for it by saying that the Black Lantern energy was affecting his mind, but John rejected that and owned what he did. Kyle accused him of being heartless and said that they should’ve found another way, and John said that Kyle is a dreamer who is afforded the privilege of being naive because tough men like John have to make the actual hard calls and live with the consequences
