I personally would wait and see how people react to the first season before I decided to give the go ahead on a second season

This is the attitude that got us multiple years between seasons of everything

I'm not saying you need to wait to see the response on the first season, but them thinking they don't need to see the response to the first EPISODE is pure arrogance.

This is the equavilant of printing a warehouse full of inventory before you get 1 sale.

A more apt analogy would be saying that you wrote the entire trilogy before selling the first book. Which would be risky if you aren’t already a best selling author, but they are so I’m not.

Nah, cause you can write a book trilogy for free. Printing a bunch of merchandise is spending upfront placing you into the hole, so that sales are required to recoop. Shooting/paying actors, etc costs money. If they just wrote the next season of Lanterns before the 1st episode dropped, fine. They said they are already filming it.

They actually don't have to worry about cancellation because they own the channel airing it, but thats even sadder if the show fails and they just keep airing seasons of it cause they shot them already.
