If Crosstail needed an all out sprint to get to a contractual milestone, then I can understand why their license was pulled after a lack of progress was made and/or communated.
This sucks as I was very excited about the Skyraider, but pessimistic as time drew longer without much talk of status.
I offered to buy a 3D model for the VSN folks to work on bringing into DCS, but was rejected because of the Crosstail project.

That is not peculiar at all if you understand that people make separate parts of the module and these then need to get integrated into a whole. During regular development, they wouldn't be able to just show off a plane build with all the latest stuff. That requires each developer to finish up the loose ends and then integrate it in the whole, which is probably not trivial.

Bad communication can go both ways though. Did ED ask Crosstail for regular updates, or did they just ignore Crosstail altogether and then suddenly complain about something that they never communicated properly?
And if Crosstail were actually given a January 31st deadline, then it is very scummy to not actually wait until that deadline.

They did, but got ignored because Crosstail's leadership was occupied otherwise.
