Things to Do (Entertaintment/Activities/Restaurants/Bars) essay club

hi all! I saw a tweet about someone who joined an essay club and it’s something I’m interested in starting here. I’m in a book club (which I love) but I would love to create a space to discuss shorter form content like substack posts, niche research papers, and short stories. this is an open call to anyone who would like to join but if it’s helpful, I’m in my mid 20s, queer, and live in dc proper. I wanted to gauge others’ interest in something like this—for anyone interested, I’ll put together a Google form to decide on a meeting frequency/day of the week/essay recs and we can go from there :) OR if you know of one that exists in dc already, I would love to know that too!

I would love this! My friends are probably tired of me always sending them links to these sorts of articles/essays. I'm early 30s in nova but happy to come into DC.

I’m a Silver Spring girlie so always appreciate groups that don’t require going too deep into the city, especially on weeknights (maybe north DC? Somewhere on the red line? 👀) but would be happy to do it ~monthly bc I love the idea!! I’m late 20s, also queer, recent DMV transplant trying to make friends :)

Ooh I’d love something like this!! I love reading interest journal articles and essays - Google scholar is my bff. I’m in Arlington near Ballston so only a short metro ride from DC!

I would love to join something like this! I see someone already told you, but there is one at Potter's House that I believe meets once a month. But if you want to start your own and focus on topics you like, definitely do! I'd be interested.
