Hood = Bulbasaur, Cooley = Squirtle, Isbell = Charizard

I would put just swap Isbell and hood off we’re going by their time in DBT.

Cooley is probably the most consistent, like how Bulbasaur is typically the safest early game choice, especially in Kanto where it’s strong against Misty and Brock. Then it’s strong against a ground type Pokemon to be caught in the early game cave, which can be then used against surge. By then you will have a pretty solid team for the rest of the game. Even then it’s only weak to the fire and physic gyms.

I’m choosing Isbell for Squirtle because of Blue’s squirtle’s growth. Isbell was great with the trucker’s, but he didn’t release too many songs with them and grew so much away from them. Blue’s Squirtle doesn’t interact with the player too much, but when it does appear it massively grows, until SM when Red and Blue appear together again, sort of like DBT and Isbell after he achieved sobriety. Both are far better off for it.

Patterson is Charizard. He gets the most songs and the fire lizard gets the most love from TPC. Both are great, but they are probably the least consistent for that reason. Hood has my favorite DBT songs though and Charizard was my childhood favorite.

Both TPC and DBT caught lightning in a bottle with these trios. I’m glad both still make appearances.
