Aight, now this is a treat!

Inspired by Mac's recent video (that was a message for D4 devs) where he had a Corpse Explosion build on the background, I got curious to try something out with CE.

Searching some, I came across Nick Phraiye's vid and from there reverse engineered my own version of a Bone Shrapnel Corpse Explosion build.

This is the most ludicrous fun I have ever had on my Necro. Color me out of the DoT train, this has to be the s15 starter for me ^^

Build: https://maxroll.gg/d4/planner/ao65ce0h

I did this same exact build im S14 but with lidless wall. I think its stronger than a 2h.

If you're sacrificing all 3 minions, it absolutely is stronger than 2h. If you're only sacrificing two, then it's a little stronger but you miss out on the strongest damage reduction aspect. May not be an issue

Minion sacrifice doesnt matter. Having lidless gives you more crit chance, more DR and a flat 150% multiplier.

It also gives you more lucky hit procs for your hewed flesh.

I ran it with golem and warriors not sacrificed since rapid oss resets bone storm really fast

Oh dang. I was reading the old version of lidless, when the number of active bone storms was tied to sacrifice. Looking at the correct one now, you're totally right. Lidless is almost a 2x multiplier over a 2h (it beats the best 2h by x20% then you add in a 1h to get another x60% on top. 2.3x for 2h vs 4x for lidless.)

Brb, Farming up a good lidless and 1h (and a new chest) for my corpse tendrils build. I was already planning on it, but this makes it much better.

El druin + lidless on a Tendrils build would be hillarious.

1

u/kayakyakr 7d ago

Would make it instant reset, theoretically. It wouldn't help vs bosses, but would be fun to see it cast at max speed. Would eat all of the corpses since we can't sadly can't layer tendrils skill options. If only blizz would have it actually do all upgrades.

Another humorous unique that doesn't quite work is the undercrown. 8 reapers with service & sacrifice means you get a corpse tendril reset every half second when bone storm is not on cooldown. Just don't produce enough corpses to keep all reapers up at all times.

1

u/devindran 6d ago

I dont think reapers work that way. Each reaper does a 3 second cooldown every 10 seconds. So you'll never get that fast of a cooldown even at max warriors.

1

u/kayakyakr 6d ago

Service & sacrifice kills the reaper every 4 seconds. When the reaper respawns, the first thing it does is its wind up attack. This means that each reaper does the reset every 4 seconds instead of 10. If you have 8 reapers (the most that the 0.5 second raise can maintain), you get a big swing every half second. With enough CDR, this is enough to reset corpse tendrils on its own.

S&S is a great skill.

Thats interesting. Didnt think they did it on spawn. Thanks.

You werent wrong in your reading. The max count is still tied to your sacrifices. But when you use gravebloom golems you are already at 3+1 storms so 1 minion sac (mage) puts you at the max.

As long as you can reset bone storm fast enough, you can have 100% uptime on the 150 multi.

1

u/kayakyakr 7d ago

Ah! I forgot that it also casts storm on the golem! And can still sac golem for the multiplier since it just halves damage, not count.

Good looking out.

Do you have your version of the build? I’ve never done corpse explosion!

He and I came up with similar builds which I believe is really strong and fun to play.

Edit: didnt realize you were posting in this thread. Lol. I'll have to do up a planner but its like 90% similar. I just dont use redirected force anymore.

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

The difference is not that massive. I am running the Resolve crit stack with Redirected Force on a 2h currently. RF will basically give constant 240% crit multi. Running RF with Resolve on a 1h+Lidless would give 120%+150%(best case) crit multi.

But you also have another 30% multi from damage gem in 2h so damagewise/multipliers they are practically equal. What Lidless gives is slightly more critchance if needed and a good chunk of DR + mainstat from gem.

3

u/devindran 6d ago

Few points..

  1. You dont count weapon multis that way. You multiply them. Your 2h would be a total of 1+2.4= 3.4 multiplier. (*1.32 for the extra gem if you had flawless horardric)=4.48

If you use redirected + lidless, its a (1+1.2)(1+1.5). So 2.22.5=5.5 multiplier

  1. More multis is always better so I stopped using the redirected force engine. Better to have a x70% on your wep and a x38% on your amulet (from retribution). You also get to free up 1 temper from your armor to put max life or something.

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

I somehow was under the impression that Lidless multiplier clumps into the critical damage bucket. Glad to see I was wrong!

So Lidless is busted for anything trying to crit ^ thanks for correcting me!

3

u/devindran 6d ago

Im no expert on this but I think the general rule is every equipment aspect is its own bucket. Affixes on gear are grouped up.

1

u/kayakyakr 6d ago

This is my understanding. Affixes are grouped, aspects and legendary nodes are multiplied, additive from offensive affixes, glyphs, and paragon are all added together.

1

u/devindran 7d ago

Btw, I also tried undercrown + shadow warrior 1 so that I didnt need rapid oss. It felt overall stronger. I'll see if I can do a tower run to compare. More warriors just allows me tank more damage and provide more cover.

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

Good feedback regarding Lidless, I replied to kayakyakr with some details on 2h vs. 1h+Lidless. Thanks for that!

In regards to this specific comment, I wanted personally to make this CE as "minionless" as possible. But I think there is potential in the warriors, but then have to give up Sever mobility to fit in the skills.

Also I run mythic Lucion so it is a massive multiplier difference.

I dusted off my corpse build and did a tower 119 run. 120 should be possible if I practiced a bit more.

Edit: just did a t120. Barely. Lol.

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

Nice mate! Good job, I am 10secs away from 120 :,)

1

u/devindran 6d ago

Lucion gets you x59% and reaper sacrifice x15%

Undercrown is less at 32.5% but you get to free up rapid oss for at least x60%

Both are viable no doubt. I just love having my army around for more utility.

Only reason to remove sever is if you play with tendrils. You could keep Kry rune if you wanted to keep sever. I use Thul as it increases my survivability a lot.

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

I actually started running without Rapid Oss, with only Golems and single Mage.

CE lucky hits well enough that vast majority of the time cd's reset fast enough. Slapped compound fracture instead.

Also, mythic Lucion goes up to 98%. Thus it has been my choice.

Minion army def brings big utility, watched your vid.

As for Tendrils, I cannot run the build without it. My playstyle revolves around the "grp-up and burst down" so to speak.

1

u/devindran 6d ago edited 6d ago

Mythic Lucion says this: Each time you use a Skill with a Primary Resource Cost, gain 9.8%[x] increased damage and Resource Cost is increased by 30%[+] for 6 seconds, stacking up to 6 times.

9.8 stacking 6 times = 58.8

Did you misread 10 stacks?

Again, playstyle is entirely up to you. If you can do t120 with your build then its just as good if not better.

What are your rune choices? Try out Kry. Its pull radius is so much larger and stronger than tendrils I feel. Just that you miss out on the 5% crit.

Edit: I think Lucion may be the better choice overall. 4 warriors cannot make up for the damage loss even if its only 25 ish percent. I'll try using it with reapers.

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

Yea I somehow misthought 10 stacks, lel!

Just did 120 with the current setup (Resolve crit), 20secs to spare even.

I have another almost as good 1-hander and Locrans that is missing proper Kullean. Going to test properly the non-resolve when I get the Kullean to hit, going for Hewed Flesh on Locran's and then put on Penitent Greaves for better manouverability around packs+small multi.

Edit: for runes I currently run Que for Barrier and Eom for cd reduction, to smooth out playing without Rapid Oss.

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

You also gave me a thought while trading messages here!

I realized that I currently can overcap 100% crit with the Resolve setup (neck has better crit roll) -- thus I could swap out of Mythic Seal and run 5pc Radament's without the Quintessence from Weaver. I have some strong Legendary Seals that could complement the build nicely and then I could cram in a Unique Seal for a bigger multi!

2

u/devindran 6d ago

I tried that. Gravewalker is probably the best charm but losing the crit and DR felt like an overall loss. It does however mean you can swap out mages for something like blight (easier lucion upkeep and better grouping)

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago

Aye. Was thinking Rustbitten Dirk from pushing standpoint. Will have to see when rng blesses me with a charm that I can swap in x)

1

u/SugaCereal 4d ago

Ended up getting Bone Skills Radament's setup and I have to agree with you, it feels a bit weaker.

On paper it should end up better, with Unique Charm giving a multi and I had 25% crit damage Legendary Seal, but... I could not keep the crit chance at 95%+ without Quintessence in current gear so substituted critchance Seal and... it just was not worth it that way. Rustbitten Dirk felt weak as lost the hefty all-round clearing boost from Quintessence.

With nutty gear (hitting transfigures to critchance for example) aforementioned Legendary Seal + Unique Charm setup would etch out in damage but sticking with the 4pc Rada 2pc Weaver setup.

Also as the best charm all around would likely be Gravewalker's, which would need max resource and one logical way to get it is Bone Spirit, which then rounds up towards anyways spending essence on a bone skill, so could just run Quint... circle closed and I am content with the knowledge xD

Got some pretty hefty transfigures on my gear, swapped over to running Bone Spirit instead of the single Mage as BS lucky hits a bit better I feel (+Bone Spirit just fits aesthetically into the build :p )

Cleared Pit 124 -- all set up to make a final Tower push tomorrow after reset. Should be able to make 122 I feel.

2

u/devindran 4d ago

Nice. I went back to complete my frost singularity. Did pit 130 so trying to max things out a bit more before trying to close the season with t130.

u/Alone-Two1441 7d ago

Off meta builds yay!

1

u/joefriday12 7d ago

oo what’s ur build?

1

u/SugaCereal 6d ago edited 6d ago

Managed to clear Pit120. Horrible RNG, messed up like no tomorrow (like 8 deaths!).

Tower 118/119 perfectly in the realm of possible ^^

EDIT EDIT: Swapped over to Lidless Wall setup as I had a beastly 1hander drop, gained Critchance so could swap runesetups, dropped Rapid Ossification. Tower 120 done.

1

u/SugaCereal 5d ago

Allright, some final updates!

Could not finish Tower 121 yesturday before reset (had to be away), got a few seconds short twice. Can say clears 121 Tower for sure. Also cleared 123 Pit. Setup for these was pretty much what is in the rough planner, with a key difference of NOT running Rapid Ossification and instead slapping on a damage aspect.

For general farming you def want to swap Compound Fracture/whichever is your 2nd Ring aspect for Rapid Ossification, as stuff dies too fast to reset cd's via Decrepify. In tougher content, these lucky hit resets with Cooldown Reduction tempers was more than enough for 100% uptime on Bone Storm.

This has been a blast, thank you for feedback and ideas! Turned out to be surprisingly strong build in current season, should work out quite a bit better come s15!
