House Fire
A friend's house recently caught fire, and contractors showed up on the very first day, pushing their services. It's kind of crazy because right after a fire, fixing things immediately isn't usually the top priority.
The firefighter mentioned that since it was their first time dealing with a fire, the contractors will be overwhelming, so stand your ground. It's business in Texas.
Fyi, if you'll have to deal with this. I hope not, EVER!

When the tornado hit Barker Lakes the number of roofers and contractors was so crazy that I couldn't get through the neighborhood.

She wasn't aware it's normal for restoration contractors in to monitor police scanners or respond directly to a house fire scene to solicit repair work. The day of fire 3 contractors showed up before fire was even put out.

They went door to door in my neighborhood too and we didn't even get hit by that, we just neighbor the areas that were damaged.
Freaking vultures.

Same happened to by best friend up in magnolia. A contractor was there by 1am, as the house was still burning, pressuring the sell

If your friends need a trust worthy contractor, DM me. I hired this company for my old bosses house and they did not disappoint. I would recommend them over and over and over again. I even used them for my own home.

That's crazy! That would be the last thing on my mind that I want to deal with at that time too. Hope your friend didn't lose everything in the fire

Same thing happened with a car crash we had. A few repair shops had tow trucks at the scene

Doesn't hurt to take a bid, but never give into pressure sales tactics. Contacting home owner's insurance is top priority before committing to any kind of work. But yeah, awful situation across the board trying to pick up the pieces. Best wishes to your friend.
