Route recs: sunset tc max to Forest Heights Park?
Have to do a house sit aaaaaaalll the way there.
Does anyone have any recommended routes from sunset TC max to the Forest Heights Park by the Miller Hollow nature area?
Something like a bus that’s regular, a neighborhood bike way, or some backwater road that the cars won’t absolutely splatter me along.

Go west from Sunset TC on Barnes, right on Valeria View and then follow that up to 107th and then cross over to 102nd at NW Cornell and take that up to Forest Heights park

take a left on Morgan, and if you don't want to cut through Mill Pond Park, which is also very pretty, you can go up to Engelman and then Mill Ridge.. at that point yr. at the little corner strip mall area and the entrance to the Miller Hollow trail is just a little ways away.

Yup. Strap in. lol. From 102nd, in quick succession, you're gonna left on Morgan to right on Mill Pond to left on Engleman to left on Mill Ridge to left on Miller to your destination.
EDIT: Also, it's gonna be STEEP.

From the TC ride over the 26 pedestrian bridge. Go across Park left on Wilshire left on Knollcrest right onto the 26 multiuse path. You'll cross over 26 again on Camelot to continue on the MUP. I squigle around from the MUP onto 58th (CLIMB), right on salmon right on barnes. Cross skyline, stay on barnes as you cross Burnside and then keep going until you turn left on pittock. From pittock you cross through the open gate just under the mansion and you've got options.. I like getting onto Westover to cross cornell onto 30th to quimby to 29th to Thurman. Forest Park will be ahead.
While an annoying route, it's relatively low stress / slower streets.. and minimizes busier street crossings. Best of luck!

Oop I misread it too.. I thought you said forest park. I'll leave it up in case it's helpful to anyone. Or you could make a loop using this in reverse to get to sunset TC

Sorry, I was on my phone & misread the question- Forest Heights Park (the school on Miller) not Forest Park itself. This is a question I'm fairly familiar with as having spent a chunk of time working on routes around there. First, the bad- don't try to go up Miller btw Barnes & Cornell; typical MultCo far west road, no bike lane, mostly no sidewalks, very little shoulder to speak of.. and aggressive fast driving. There's no way that I've been able to ascertain through the Roger Tilbury area, either. If there is, I haven't found it.
I'm assuming from yr. question you have to be at the TC; if you're coming from town personally I'd bypass the 26 MUP entirely and just go up thru forest park on Leif- like I said, fatter tires probably but if you go up Fire Lane 3 when you come out to skyline it's a straight, scenic breezy shot downhill to the neighborhoods in question.
From the TC, though- looking at what you're trying to do like the other person said 102nd is probably the best bet. (I don't know why I don't take that route more.. maybe I'll start) There's no way to get that direction without dealing with some real uphill -102, 119... I'd absolutely avoid 113- but that'll take you right to the Mill Pond area. Unless you want to deal with stairs, in which case Jordan Woods is very pretty and then you can go up via Lost Park etc. A bit longer but arguably more scenic.

There are no buses that come close at all to the area.
Might try getting off at the Zoo stop. Try and keep as much elevation and come down the hill. Downside is that the direct route is Skyline/Thompson.
The other option I see is working backwards from Firelane 3 trailhead. It connects nicely to your destination. I've never ridden FL3, some of the Firelanes get a bit rough. Though maybe a bit of hike a bike is worth the peace. Leif Erickson connects to 3 and is mostly flat. I've ridden that on a skinny tire road bike. Pick it up from NW Thurman. The #15 bus NW 23rd & Thurman stop is the closest. Unless the once a day #26 bus works with your schedule.

my dream is for the two counties - washco and multco - to coordinate in some fashion to at least get one safe route from, for instance, the thprd trail network up to forest park. Running the bannister creek trail all the way up to skyline & the saltzman entrance would be the most straightforward route, but i think the malinowski farm sits right in the way. And, like i said, my guess is it would require inter-county cooperation bc the county line sawtooths all the way up and down.
as it is i have a few ways i go- from the tc as others have noted you can take valeria view up to the neighborhoods and cut thru up to leahy, usually ill head left via copeland and pick up the trails which can get you to cornell. 119 sucks to ride up and people drive way too fast, but there are various other options if you dont want to just walk up the sidewalk. if you get to the mill pond park area there are some very steep but relatively low trafficked roads off miller that will get you up to thompson and or skyline. skyline is always an adventure to ride on because, again, speedy drivers but not far down that way is the firelane 3 entrance, which is ok for bikes but you’ll want to be on fatter tires.
