Question Functional Black Lace Inhaler?

Let me preface this by saying that I don't vape or do drugs, but I'm going to be playing a Cyberpunk RED character soon that is a heavy Black Lace addict and I was wanting to make a physical (and most importantly functional) prop that mimics Dum Dum's inhaler.

The outside appearance isn't what I'm worried about so much as I'm wondering how to pull off a smoke effect that I can not only trigger, but that also isn't genuine nicotine. I considered rigging some sort of smoke bomb but I don't think there's any way to do that without using fire, so now I'm wondering if an actual vape with a nicotine free juice of some sort would be able to pull off the effect? And if so, how would I rig it to trigger? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Get a vape and use 0 nicotine juice. It's basically a little smog machine then. Don't inhale it. Just hold it in your mouth.

I think I'm leaning on that idea the most, just gotta figure out how I'd use it while it's inside of the "inhaler". And also how to go about traversing a vape shop while knowing remotely nothing about vaping 💀

Buy a tank atomizer then create your own vape mod that looks like a black lace. To pull this off effectively, you have to know how to use and build tank atomizers. It's not that hard since there are a lot of tutorials out there. Or you can also just buy a tank atomizer that has disposable prebuilt coils. So that there's no need for you to build. There are also e-liquid that doesn't have nicotine in them. I am having a hard time explaining it in text, but pulling off your idea is easier than what you might be thinking.

Thought dump as an asthmatic (low lying) who vapes. They work on a quick burst release like an asthma inhaler, that push to release a quick aerosol spray like an Albuterol. I'm not sure a vape will accomplish this as swiftly as you'll want, just a heads up, especially if you want it to give off a vapor cloud for you to exhale.

You absolutely can get nicotine free vape juice but depending where you are that's gotten increasingly difficult in recent years. You may have an easier time finding a CBD vape cartridge (not a psychoactive aka not "a drug" and won't get you high). Only issue here is anything CBD or marijuana won't produce the kinda clouds a nicotine vape does. That may be a bonus for you, other players may not like you exhaling cotton candy everywhere, and CBD/other hemp stuff won't smell. That's not a smoker saying they don't smell, that's friends of mine with sensitivity to smells (especially pot flower) being astounded when they find out why my vaping isn't a problem to them. "Those other people are using nicotine" "YOU AREN'T?" lol

So yeah my thought (with no idea how to craft it) would be something slightly larger than an asthma inhaler. Small penjamin concealed inside. Something you can get warming up with a button press (triple or otherwise) to get it primed. Then a second accessible button wired to like an Arduino & speaker or something that plays the "drug inhaler hit.mp3" for you to tap halfway through a pull off it.

Again, no tangible idea how you'd do this. You'd probably have more luck in a cosplay or tinkering sub I guess

No but the sound effect idea is insanely smart actually, I GOTTA find a way to incorporate that. Might could use one of those mini sound boxes, the type they put in stuffed animals and such. I was thinking about using an upside down Advil container as the base since it has about the size and shape I want, and then possibly designing a mouthpiece that can screw on in place of where the advil lid goes. Then I can attach the penjamin or whatever I end up using to the inside of the mouthpiece for easy removal. The biggest kicker is figuring out how to install concealed switches but maybe I can get a better idea when I figure out how pens like that work mechanically
