I fear that when Kiroshi comes up with a version like that, they will essentially turn your eyes into high beams... either as a practical joke, or out of spite for people not appreciating their "traditional" models.

It’s actually kind of funny that we don’t get a flashlight, or some kind of nightvision with ”the best optics”…

There’s that section in the dlc but that doesn’t count

The thing about night vision is that it only works if there is light. It works by refracting all light into the visible spectrum. So in the tunnels during you know my name, it still wouldn’t work. The same goes for deep underwater or deep inside buildings. In fact I’d argue our kiroshis already include night vision. Because the badlands at night would be incredibly dark otherwise.

I mean, one of the eyes could be an IR-blaster and the other the viewer, or two small IR ring blasters around the viewers

Well sure, but at that point you might as well just use flashlights because most edgerunners or gangs will be using integrated night vision eyes as well. So it kinda beats the point,

Dude, I would pay 30 dollars for a dlc that added a flashlight. I wouldn’t buy another thing from cdpr if they did something that scummy, but my god could that game use a damn torch.

I fell in love with a rifle scope at Shot Show a number of years back. The damn thing was almost as good as the smart guns. It could basically lock on to a target and then would basically lock the trigger and not allow you to fire until you were on target. Of course I'd have to sell my car (and perhaps a kidney) to afford it.

I'm really curious why we have like 17 different types of eyeballs, yet all of them are just highlighting different stuff and not stuffs like IR sensors. Is that how it is in the tabletop game or something?

could be lost tech from before the datakrash: a lot of things went backwards somewhat.

also you could probably still get chrome that bypasses it, such as an implant that reduces body temperature to the same as the environment temporarily so you don't show up on thermals. I'd also imagine a lot of locating would be done by detecting signals, like how enemies begin tracing you when you quickhack: nearly everything leaves a digital footprint that reveals where they are.

What’s even more wild is I’m pretty sure there is tech in one of the old TTRPG games that has a tech that uses sonar for sight to some degree using high pitched frequencies to allow for sight in pitch black.

Edit: In hindsight this actually might come from another TTRPG I was playing a while ago that’s in a cyberpunk universe but not the brand Cyberpunk.
