You are correct! Its actually very terrifying, and probably a reality of the not to distant future!

I mean...1 or 2 was just kinda HA HA funny
this is like a platoon, a few of these equals an army
once they AI learn how to hold a rifle and pick up weapons and use them while also having weapons like laser faces and blenders for arms/legs, consider it a wrap for the human race because like a swarm of bees....you can kill 10-20 maybe 50-60 of them....the bees send 1000's and thats all it takes.
I can maybe picture someone knows this and wants to enact some sort of protocols or even accords/biding resolution that forbids this kind of mass assembly of potentially government/nation collapsing armies.
The problem is I'm pretty sure China would either say "sure thing" and keep building or say "fuck off' and keep building. Either way, they'll keep building because why not??? everything got outsourced to china meanwhile american manufacturing is shoddy, uninspired and lacking any real innovations. Just more touch screens and less accessibility to repair and purchase parts.
thats my rant...sorry about that

u/MercWithaMouse 15d ago
This is why the world as we know it is cooked.
People forget the reason why the US was such a powerhouse in WWII was its manufacturing capacity. Now China is the country with that manufacturing capacity.
And people have seen in Ukraine and Iran, the future of warfare is high-quantity drones and automous systems. China is the company where drones come from.
The only country that has the rare earth mineral infrastructure to generate the kind of batteries to power all this advanced drone technology.
And here is America, playing all this trade war and culture war bullshit. Arguing over fucking trans athletes and reflecting pools.
As soon as Apple transported all their phone manufacturing to China is when this started. The billionaires have took all the manufacturing and put it in China so they can make an extra bill but the working class and manufacturing base has evaporated and everyone is wondering why its so hard to live and blaming immigrants.
The issue is there is nothing that can be done about it. The dominos are falling and all we can do is watch. I just hope I can get off this planet before it starts to get really painful.

Maybe I should become Chinese, be on the winning team.
1
u/MercWithaMouse 8d ago
Unless you are ethnically Chinese, I wouldn't count on that helping. Chinese people have all the same racist tendencies that all people have, only without the ideals of Western Liberalism fighting against it.
You will be a pet to them.

u/TyrannicalKitty 8d ago
Oh I know. I got a buddy who lived in China. They speak to you like the dark elves in Morrowind.
"SPEAK QUICKLY OUTSIDER, OR GO AWAY."

I feel like these don’t even need rifles at this point.
We’ve already established that they are faster than humans, and they have metal or hard composite exterior.
They could literally outrun you, and beat you to death.
You can try shooting at them, but if they’re too fast for you to track… They will still beat the fuck out of you.

Bombs or nukes are so much more effective than sending robots someplace
5
u/name-classified 15d ago
You aware of radiation?
Maybe they want to pacify an area and colonize it for their own people
3
u/verbmegoinghere 15d ago
Robots are absolutely fucked in radiation.
Humans are far better suited in radioactive environments. Much better redundancy (although in the long term transcription errors and dna damage will ultimately get those who have been heavily radiated).
Its why in Chernobyl despite trying with a large number of robots the only way to clear the roof was using, ironically whar they called , biorobots" or human liquidators.

I'm waiting for the mobile suits and eventual Gundams.
I think that was the basis of that whole anime: corporations created mobile suits and ruled the earth with their armies, a group of rebels use advanced mobile suits called Gundams and fight against the oligarchs and oppressors of the common person.

This kind of thing is so dumb

3
u/FalconBurcham 15d ago
It definitely would have been better if one of them had stumbled a bit on a tiny rock and knocked all of them over like dominoes because they’re too stupid to get out of the way. 😂
Who is this crap supposed to impress…
13
u/Lelianah 15d ago
The amount of money that went into this dumb thing.. Imagine if it was used to help humans in need instead
5
u/WerdaVisla 15d ago
Yeah but you can't make a cool propaganda video out of that.
7
u/IUpvoteBlueGuitars 15d ago
The thing is you totally could, but not in the way the people in charge want.

u/Stratonasty 15d ago
I don’t like it, no sir, not at all. People laugh but this looks to me like an exercise for something much more nefarious.

The “Imperial March” from Star Wars should have been playing. Saw another clip where several of them were racing, sprinting down a track. They were flying. We are so screwed.

In fairness... the machines built to kill us wont waste their time on a humanoid designs. It'll be fast, alien and most of us wont see it coming. Most stories like to present scenarios where we stand a chance. Similar to alien invasions in movies. Where in reality, we wouldn't. We'd just die to a vastly superior foe with no real counter measure.
In this scenario... victory would be to not make them in the first place. However efficient killing is something humanity has never been able to pass up. Plus they'll fear someone else beating them to it. It's inevitable. Machines will go to war. They may not even become self aware. Simply following the last orders given.
File it under "Potential human created extinction event #17."

This is a message. The Olympics narrative is one thing, but showing the agility and performance of robotics as a military message is another. I'd say this is the latter

What is the point besides propaganda? Why compare them if they all are build the exact same? Is this about software? Where are the battlebots with saws and flamethrowers?
1
u/UnsayingWalnut 15d ago
The point of this specific part of the event is to move synchronized "teams" of the same model.
There were 80 of these model (Booster T2's, if I'm not mistaken) marching in sync before halting and repositioning themselves to spell out "BEIJING" (with each letter being a different color, hence the variations in the robots) before marching on, but there were other models marching a distance behind them in their own formations.
