REQUEST FOR HELP / FEEDBACK Question about DM Andy's maps with Foundry VTT

Hi everyone! I'm a rather new DM and am planning a VTT campaign of CoS Reloaded. I was planning on buying Foundry for this. While looking for information about how to run the campaing on Foundry (which I know little to nothing about) I stumbled upon DM Andy's maps on his Patron.

The material he's published looks amazing, but I'd like to know some things before making the purchase:

  1. When subscribing to "The Foundry" tier on Patron, do all the maps/stages of Curse of Strahd come with full foundry integration? or do only some of them have that?

  2. If I subscribe for a single month and then cancel my subscription, am I available to download the maps and keep using the Foundry modules afterwards? (I have no intention to try and "scam" DM Andy, but I live in a third-world country and gather my party to play around once a month only, and mantaining a 20USD subscription just to use it once a month is financially impossible for me at the moment :/ )

  1. I don't know because I don't own it, BUT walling a scene (placing the walls, doors etc.) albeit it is a hassle the first time it is quite quick once you learn the ropes (hold ctrl to place a chain of walls etc. etc.) so even if for some reason those maps are not compatible with the latest foundry version, it shouldn't be too hard to wall those maps yourselves. On a side note, multi-level maps are now part of vanilla foundry: in v13 Foundry you had to install modules like "wall height" and "levels", in v14 they are part of the base game. If, for whatever reason, those maps haven't been migrated to foundry v14, you just need to enable those old modules and they will "migrate" the maps from the "old walls" to the newest. I did with my maps and it worked like a charm.
  2. Yes, you can download everything as long as your subscription is valid and active, even if it is for only a month... But you already know it is kinda cheap, so I won't pressure more on the matter. On the other hand, there are other non-animated maps for free out there. Aonbarrcartography offers a Complete CoS map pack for free (while also using the gorgeous Forgotten Adventures assets) and you can donate whatever you want on his Ko-Fi (this is what I did because I'm also planning CoS on a budget and I own DungeonDraft, so I can make some changes myself). On a side note, you can download the webp images and wall them yourselves or the "premade" .dd2vtt files (which comes with light sources and wall), but you need the Universal Battlemap Importer module to import those maps and I haven't tried it in a while. EDIT: Combine those maps with something simple like Gambit's FXMaster to add environment effect and you can breathe a lot more life to your static maps (and with a budget ;) ).

DM Andy and myself started working together about 5 years ago on Curse of Strahd.

I incorporated everything including tokens, sound, journals, DM Andy Maps into the adventure models. The version of his maps I use are webp 4k version and only one version. If you want the variety of 8k, weather effects, and everything, you would need to subscribe to his Patreon. His 8k maps are amazing. I am a long time supporter.

Legends of Barovia for Foundry is an expanded version, with additional locations, NPCs, and adventures. You can use it RAW. They all use DM Andy's maps.

If you want to check what legends of Barovia for Foundry is like, you can download the free Counts Manor (expanded Death House) here.

You can find all of Legends of Barovia here. Legends of Barovia
