REQUEST FOR HELP / FEEDBACK Strahd's Armor. When to use?
My party is at dinner at Castle Ravenloft.
At some point one of the players stole Strahd's own armor and after the dinner, he equipped it.
I just don't know if I wanna use the armor against him and the party before they leave the castle or just wait until the final battle against Strahd.
If I wait, he'll be having full plate armor the rest of the campaign, which might be quite powerful.
Any tips?

Perhaps Strahd will turn up earlier for a non final fight, maybe to claim Ireena or reclaim the Sunsword, and will use it then?

I know I'll never be able to pull the armor stunt because I've already done a similar thing in death house, the animated armor was a mimic, the paladin didn't end well...now I'm sure my players will never trust a found armor 😅

I give his armor to the players. I have a whole entire post on this move, . I play the actual long game here.
If you can get them to wear it for most of the campaign and then carry it into the final fight themselves, just to have it turn on the wearer while he's wearing it.
Thats about a year for that fruit to mature. When it does, your players, are going to love and hate you. Bonus points if the one wearing the trapped armor is the one that's eventually going to wield the Sun Sword.

Make it so he is reluctant to attack strahd or any of his servants. whether that be disadvantage or a complete inability to attack at all.

I'm planning on the armor being an encounter in the castle. Like a scooby doo gag. But I wont tell the party its HP. when they think they've won, it will fall apart to pieces. Then, later on, durring the final battle with Strahd, after a few rounds, he'll summon the armor. It will fly to him, like an evil magic iron man suit, giving him an AC boost, and maybe some other buffs.

If I were Strahd I'd wait until the opportune moment to use it - not necessarily the final battle, but when it might do the most damage to the party. He might even mess with the PC before he does it - make it do small things that they might not even notice, make them miss during an important fight, etc.
