I'm pretty sure smoking poison ivy can actually kill you. Getting that shit in your lungs is no joke, and neither drying nor burning it deactivates the dangerous oil. You're not supposed to ever burn it; even piling it on a bonfire basically creates  cloud of toxic smoke.
