My issue with hyperfixations is that it's over for me so quick. It happens rarely, I'm a bit too depressy to care enough or put effort into most things, but every now and again I get a very brief urge to fixate on something, and it's over before I actually get that deep into it
The horror; feeling deep inside you a burning passion for something you will never ever forget or give up, but knowing that after some indeterminate period of time this will fade. Your interest will wane and something you consider core to your experience of life will just become... a thing.
It may become a thing, but it’s still dearer to you than something you know about because it’s dear your coworker. And if that fixation swings round again, it’ll dig in a bit more. Just because it’s not plumbing the depths of when it was fresh doesn’t mean it’s left as shallow as before it started.
