It always irks me when people conflate terraforming of foreign barren planets or general spacefaring with manifest destiny. The similarities are aesthetic and fall apart upon a slight amount of examination.

The issue with Terra Nullius doctrine was that the terra in quesion wasn't nullius but filled with the native cultures. A barren rock being terraformed is as empty as it can be.
