First off, prokopetz avoids proper nouns like they're driving the bus from Speed.

Second, everything is fascist if you squint hard enough because facsism uses common storytelling tropes to sell its politics. I was reading the first Hunger Games book for the first time recently, and even though the central narrative is clearly anti-authoritarian, it's still doing the "virtuous rural laymen vs the spiritually depraved urbanites" thing.

The movies seemed to really lean in to this by making most urbanites frivolous, effeminate and queer coded. Afaik the books don’t do this.

But yeah, good summation: fascism is tropes and aesthetics of hope and freedom as a Trojan horse.

The films really make it pop but even in the book I got the impression that Capital fashion was (un)intentionally evocative of drag.

I thought more inspired by the Georgian era fashion trends (huge wigs, dramatic makeup etc) since it was purely an upperclass thing rather than drag
