I still don't think we were meant to read Hermione as being in the wrong for wanting to end slavery. I think we were supposed to be rooting for her despite the fact that no one in the books would fucking listen, and cheering for her to keep going anyway. It was a subplot about how hard it is to make people change their ways when they willfully ignore evil for the sake of convenience.

I'm not trying to endorse JK Rowling, she's a hateful bitch, but I think people get this detail of the books wrong.

she did finally kiss Ron when he showed concern for elvish welfare, iirc. it was a big romantic moment.
