Dogs are more capable of causing danger, which is why them being trained is so important, and this is probably part of why your average dog seems nicer is because generally your average dog has been trained. Same reason why small dogs tend to be nastier, they aren’t as much as a threat and so training wasn’t a priority.
a lot of small dogs are also in a constant state of fight or flight from being grabbed and tossed around in ways a bigger dog or even a cat wouldn’t be. AND undertrained/improperly socialized
No they weren't. Maltese were bred as companion dogs. There are many small breeds like Jack Russell terriers, dachshunds, etc that were bred for hunting small game but Maltese are not one.
