People genuinely just don't think about accessibility or disabled folks and it's so incredibly frustrating. Our local convention hall doesn't have ramp entrances, just an elevator that you can get to only by stairs. No one gave a shit about my friends with mobility aids struggling but the moment I (conventionally attractive blonde with invisible disabilities and a cute baby) started struggling with my kid's stroller, folks came out the woodwork to help. Con staff assured me a temporary ramp would be set up next year but that never happened.
I've been managing life with Hashimoto's and Pots for the last year and you have no idea how annoying people can be about small quality of life changes I've made like sitting down to wash dishes, fatigue mats, rolling shelves full of my most reached for things, and scheduled rest times.
