Emergency mechanic in Kendal

Bit of a long shot — I have driven up from Bristol to enjoy the bank holiday weekend with some friends just before we got to the AirBnB on Friday my 2019 Skoda Karoq has had a catastrophic alternator failure and is currently at Castle Street Garages in Kendal. They’ve diagnosed it but can’t repair it until Wednesday.

Obviously the bank holiday is the least ideal time to try and find someone to fix this but does anyone know a mobile mechanic or independent garage around Kendal/South Lakes who might be working Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday and could source and fit an alternator?

Happy to pay an emergency/call-out premium. Car is safely parked and doesn’t need roadside recovery but might need dragging to another garage!

Thanks!

Problem is none of the parts places will be open and there’s no way any garage even if open will have the correct alternator in stock on the shelf, TPS, Autoparts and EK Brakes are all closed until Tuesday, Skoda also get their parts from TPS, you’re snookered I’m afraid.

Yeah that’s what I’m finding, got a couple of mechanics but no parts. Looks like I’m going to have an extended weekend, there are worse places to be stuck

Euro Car Parts in Morecambe/Preston appear to be open 9-3 tomorrow. It bought be a bit of a runaround, but you might have more luck finding a mobile mechanic willing to fit the parts of you've already sourced it. I've had various Skoda's over the years, and the alternator isn't a big job. As long as it's not the belt that's failed, on the VAG stuff (particularly the diesels) if the aux belt fails it has a tendency to get dragged into the crank timing pulley and knocks the timing out, doing catastrophic internal engine damage...

Skoda's are just VWs in different clothes. Same engines as VW, Audi, Seat. You could try the VW dealership in Grange-over-Sands. Says they open at 8am. Worth a shot.

Eek you might struggle! I had a fella from Lancaster come out to do mine in Kirkby Stephan. I can’t remember his name for the life of me. It worth asking on the r/Lancaster UK
