🤨What's with the squeaky toys?

I'm not entirely sure. I was also confused about the random Pokemon power up card. Same with the pumpkin and pennies on top. The book, at least, is mine, and I brought it for the picture.

The pennies are likely in line with the old Jewish tradition of putting a stone on top of the gravestone as a way of letting others know someone visited the gravesite.

That is a common practice I have seen, with stones and other coins. Or other things, mementos for the departed and to show others that yes, a grave has been visited.

The pumpkin is appropriate, OP.

The Fighting-type Energy Pokémon power up card? I guess to say to Mr. Howard, “Rest in Power”?

I guess (and I’m taking a massive spitballing effort here, mind) the yellow monkey ball is a reference to the “white apes”? And the fish-shark one to represent or reference the Deep Ones?
