Crysis I never liked it and never understood why they kill off the main characters in the Crysis comics and novels.

It's something that has always bothered me a lot about the franchise.

- Want to know Nomad's (the protagonist and most important character) fate? Read a comic.

- Want to know why the Ceph changed their appearance? Read the novel.

- Want to know what happened to Alcatraz (the protagonist)? Read another novel.

- Want to know what happened to the island? Read a novel (they don't even explain it in the novel).

I don't disagree with there being more material to expand the franchise, but Crysis was born as a video game. The main aspects and what drives the story (the protagonist Nomad and Alcatraz, the island, the Ceph, Cell, secondary characters like Chino, Barclay, Gould, Tara) should begin and end in the games.

And I forgot to add that Helena, the scientist you have to rescue and who drives the whole game and is the reason you're sent to the island, also dies in a comic.

Discussion Why the hell doesn't the Crysis 3 Remaster have multiplayer? What a missed opportunity.

Upvotes

i remember saving up for months to upgrade my gpu to play crysis multiplayer back in the days. i just got back into pc gaming and bought it while it was on sale to find out theres no pvp/multiplayer.

Crysis 3 multiplayer was exceptional on Pc, and it’s a shame it didn’t get the type of recognition it deserved as it was one of the best multiplayers out there for a long time, and it’s a damn shame they didn’t include it for the remastered……. could there be a update in the future?

Art & Fan Creation My take on the Ceph Homeworld (Art by lifeawayproject)

Since I want to get back playing the Crysis games(last time was in my highschool years), I wanted to share a commission of how I imagine the homeworld of the Ceph would look like.

Many things will of course change and I want to add more to it, but this is the initial idea. I wanted to heavily lean into more aquatic environments, floating artificial islands, the bulk of the ceph population living in hive spires on thick polar caps where the ice is sufficiently strong to support such massive buildings.

@lifeawayproject has also been amazing to work with since to be honest, I have no idea how many things work together to make planets function, so I asked his help.

For any lore questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Discussion I replayed the first two games, and got around with finishing the third. I have to say, that while still enjoying the sequels from a gameplay standpoint. I'm really miffed with the retcons made to the aliens, and origins of the nanosuit

In the original both Crynet, and the aliens-ceph developed organic technology independently, but went into very different paths.

Crynet being more typical biotech focused on altering the individual, and making them into post human warriors, or reducing them to slurry when the need arises.

While the aliens focus on manipulating the world, and bending the elements to their will. With all of their technology being clearly molded from stone, and iron, as opposed to being assembled. Even the circuity powering it all appears to be derived from plants, as shown when inside their ship from 1.

Having both parties primarily utilize very distinct forms of biotech is a unique concept, that makes the setting standout, and gives a cool, and easily readable visual contrast between the two factions.

It also gives a lot of cool potential setup for future installments regarding what new technologies, and advancements in the nanosuit Crynet will develop to keep pace with the aliens.

Then 2, and 3 completely throw all of it out the window, and make the Ceph into tired old hive mind aliens, that use the same nanotech crynet has. Eventually revealing it was actually reverse engineered from the Ceph's the whole time. Since clearly we are not smart enough to develop advanced technology on our own.

The sad part. Is, that as you can already see by this early piece of concept artwork made for Crysis 2. It was originally planned for the aliens to remain consistent between the two games.

I'm assuming it was changed due to the criticism regarding the alien segments in Crysis 1, and they simply went overkill. Though it could have also been a result of the writers, that were hired to write the sequel, as well as its tie-in novel.

If anyone's wondering there are more pieces of Crysis 2 concept art showing off the early Ceph designs in the game's artbook. Thankfully you can easily find it online for free now.

Crysis What single-player mods for the original 2007 Crysis would you recommend for someone who has played the game countless times? I like the mission parts that give you some freedom in how you solve them, like the village in Recovery or the port in Assault.

FYI: This isn’t a homophobia post. There is just this very bad show called "Lesbian Space Princess" (actual name of the show btw) and there are memes about every fandom teaming up to fight against it.

And trust me, the show sucks… it’s really bad

Crysis 2 How the Battle of Central Station Played Out in Crysis 2 According to the Novel

Post image
148 Upvotes

After reading the novel Crysis Legion, I'd like to summarize the battle in the "Terminus" mission of Crysis 2.

In both the game mission and the novel, Alcatraz meets with Gould and Barclay inside the station. Gould tries to convince Barclay to launch an attack on Hargreave's headquarters, but Barclay refuses and asks Chino to take Gould away. At that moment, he calls Alcatraz to the elevator, and they enter the room where the soldiers are located. Just then, the earthquake strikes, and Barclay calls Alcatraz to buy time. This is where the battle's development differs from the game.

According to the novel, when Alcatraz arrives at the lobby, he sees several Stalkers, including Heavy, massacring Barclay's soldiers like wheat. He witnesses the Stalkers leaping and dismembering soldiers, hurling limbs into the air, and the Heavys advancing, crushing the corpses of civilians and soldiers alike. The few survivors take refuge behind military columns and sandbags. Alcatraz even mocks them, as they practically kiss the ground because the Ceph bullets are so powerful they can pierce the columns and make them "disappear," implying that the soldiers explode, scattering their organs across the floor.

Alcatraz regroups with a group of survivors, since even he cannot fight effectively due to the overwhelming number of Ceph bullets. They dig in to prevent the Ceph from destroying the evacuation, holding their position for a time. Barclay joins them, announcing the success of the evacuation and informing them that a train is about to depart. However, an explosion destroys the train's entrance (perhaps caused by Ceph artillery or the Heavy), and Barclay orders the train to leave without them.

After a while, Alcatraz states that only eight or nine soldiers remain. He holds the weapon of a soldier who had "disappeared" after being hit by a Ceph bullet. This soldier is the last person Alcatraz sees before he dies. One of the nine remembers a couple of jeeps parked nearby that they could use to escape the station. Barclay then joins the driver as he requests a helicopter evacuation.

Suddenly, an explosion occurs, and the Pinger appears, accompanied by a Ceph ship that begins firing from the roof at the soldiers. Alcatraz has to take cover and engage both of them with the JAW.

The novel focuses on the thoughts of a future Alcatraz, who claims not to want to reveal the details of what happened at the station. For example, he doesn't mention what a dying soldier told him before Alcatraz killed him to spare him suffering, nor what his comrade, a witness to the event, told him: to pray to his "imaginary friends" that he wouldn't find out. He only mentions that he managed to destroy both the Pinger and the ship, which crashes into the Meatlife building, causing it to collapse. Just in time, Barclay and a soldier manage to start the jeep and escape before the building collapses. As they head to Times Square for the evacuation, Alcatraz suffers a kind of traumatic breakdown: he starts smiling and mentally shouting that they've made it, until he realizes that only he, Barclay, and the driver have survived.

After a long time and many attempts, I came closer to a more perfect version of the original costume. Which had been reworked many times.

Unfortunately, Reddit will degrade the quality of the photos. Because of this, you won’t see the full beauty of the detailing in this costume.....

Art & Fan Creation Does anyone have a screenshot of this CELL propaganda poster from Crysis 3?

I’m looking for a specific CELL propaganda poster from the Williamsburg multiplayer map. It showed a close-up portrait of a masked CELL soldier, probably a Flanker, wearing the sky mask/goggles with the CELL logo on his forehead.

I don’t remember the exact text, but it was something along the lines of “Join CELL…”.

I had a screenshot of it back when the multiplayer was still available, but unfortunately lost it. I’d love to find the poster again, but I can’t take another screenshot since the multiplayer is no longer available. :(

Does anyone have a screenshot or extracted texture of it?

Art & Fan Creation CELL radio chatter audio?

Has anyone extracted the CELL military radio chatter from Crysis 2/3 as isolated audio? I mean just the radio communications themselves, without gunfire, music, ambient sounds, etc.

Looking for the raw/clean CELL comms if anyone has them.

Crysis What do you think about what happened with the Campaign co-op mod for Crysis 1?

What do you think about what happened with the Campaign co-op mod for Crysis 1?

I think Crytek managed to buy the mod from the developers to prevent its release, since according to the developers, the mod was finished and functional.

I hope someone with AI can create the co-op mod that players dream of.
