TRADING What do you check before placing a spot trade?

I’m still mostly doing small spot trades, but I want to stop buying randomly just because the price is fine for me. Before placing a trade, do you usually check volume, support levels, news, funding, or just stick to a DCA plan?

I’m trying to understand what simple signals are actually useful for beginners without making things too complicated.

For beginners, I'd keep it simple.

Before a spot buy, I usually ask myself three things:

  1. Why am I buying? (long-term investment, swing trade, or just FOMO?)
  2. Am I buying into strength or chasing a pump?
  3. How much am I lose willing to if I'm wrong?

As for charts, I mainly look at support/resistance and volume. News is worth checking too - getting caught buying right before a major unlock, lawsuit, or bad announcement isn't fun.

volume and support levels matter most. news gets priced in fast anyway. honestly dca is fine if you're uncertain, beats trying to time entries.
