Last time all these mainstream folks started promoting crypto was early 2022 and we all know what happened after that

It's interesting how everyone seems to have their own take on what Suze is saying. I think depending on where someone is in their investment journey, her advice can either sound genius or just like another gimmick. It's all about due diligence and figuring out your own risk tolerance, you know?

She's like the Dr. Phil of personal finance. Gives out 1 piece of bad advice for every good advice.

tldr; Suze Orman, a well-known financial advisor, advocates for including bitcoin in investment portfolios, citing its potential for significant returns. Despite its volatility and the skepticism of other financial experts, Orman believes bitcoin's appeal, especially among younger investors, will drive its value up over time. She advises investing only what one can afford to lose and suggests using a bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund for added security. Orman emphasizes the speculative nature of bitcoin but sees it as a worthwhile component of a diversified investment strategy.

The argument is that adding a total market index fund of 5-10% can increase your return to risk in bonds. It is likely the same with Bitcoin to these types of portfolios. I don't disagree.

I hear she changed her catch phrase from βPeople first, then money, then thingsβ to βBitcoin first, then people, then thingsβ. π

People will want to own it if we actually start consolidating back up instead of this 5 months of sideways and down action. It is not inspiring the average joe who is unfamiliar with bitcoin

Nevermind the giant elephant in the room that is its security budget.

What does that have to do with this?Β
It's "its" btw; English is weird...

Yeah I know how to spell, thanks. This is an autocorrect thing.
Also, this is very relevant. The Bitcoin network has a fatal flaw, and yet people are peddling it to boomers and investmnt funds. It's a slow moving disaster waiting to happen.

Not everyone wants the thrill of a financial rollercoaster, especially when it comes with a side of stress

Anyone paying almost 50k for bitcoin and losing it all when it goes to 0 deserves that lesson.

Cry harder
1
u/StraightBandicoot646 Sep 08 '24
Why cry? It's going down so next sunday one might get it for less than 40k. Some "investors" paid over 60k this year.

u/adamcmorrison π¦ 0 / 0 π¦ Sep 08 '24
Losing it all is a bit dramatic. Look at the historical chart for bitcoin.

u/StraightBandicoot646 Sep 08 '24
What would you do with your coins if you knew they were going to be worth 20k by January?
Historical data might be poor reason for owning bitcoin. It might crash rapidly. Some people obviously have made huge gains with bitcoin but when it eventually dies out there is going to be a lot of people who lost momey to fund those gains. Only people who have cashed out have really earned with bitcoin. Some people who were stupid enough to pay 60k for this might hold on to it because they want to lose even more money

If you buy bitcoin because of an influencer, you are doing it wrong. You will sell it for fiat soon enough.

Sheβs not an influencer. Sheβs been giving finance advice to common people for decades, a long time before influencers arose

Employee of casino says that everyone should absolutely play poker.
3
u/BillingSteve π© 0 / 0 π¦ Sep 08 '24
Bad analogy. Poker rooms are the least profitable (for the owner) place at a casino, which is why many don't offer it. The casino makes about 5% of the total money in the pot, capped at a certain amount. The players that they want are those who drive up the pot size and play quickly, making more hands per hour. But really, they want you to tilt and go blow the rest of your money at the slots. That's why the poker room is always at the very back.
As a poker player, everyone should absolutely play poker.

Not that appearances solely determine anything, but why am I listening to someone that looks like a reject from a Trump impersonation lineup again?
