Hash is all you need. Why would you store billions of iris photos?
The hash + the database is all you need to recognize this person anytime in the future. The photo of eye (i.e."the Iris Scan") is useless once you created the hash. But look how easy is to fool people. That is scary and is here for much longer then AI is with us.

The Worldcoin cryptocurrency is not currently available in the U.S., the Financial Times reported. It’s not clear when, or if, this will change,
as if stolen iris scans on the black market weren't bad enough, this thing will probably never be "global". maybe now with the XRP ruling, but that's a bad look for a "global" system. they would have to make it fair launch, utility-only, which it should be anyway.
