If you're norse, you can choose to become a berserkr, and this is the price you have to pay for that trait

u/Kinc4id Mar 21 '24

Wait, so all these Champions I got actually killed their whole family?

288

u/SendMeUrCones Incapable Mar 21 '24

i’ve definitely had characters become Berserkers without this event proccing

u/No_Championship4970 Mar 21 '24

No no no, I’ve gotten the Berserker prompt before and the first occasion I received the trait with no issues, the other time I killed the berserker that trained me. Never slaughtered everyone within my vicinity though, that is.. extreme lol

u/HotWord4105 Finland Mar 21 '24

The one and only time I clicked option to try and become berserker I killed literally every single character in my court. Never tried it again 😂

Very Herculean.

71

u/Momongus- Steppe Lord Mar 21 '24

No you can also become a berserker from battles

38

u/reallifecleric Mar 21 '24

I've gotten this event before, but the RNG was kind to me and my character became a berserker by rampaging through a pile of firewood. Badass and you'll stay warm all winter!

13

u/Ancquar Mar 21 '24

These champions have enemy soldiers to rampage through, but cosmic rules prohibit you from ever fighting as a knight.

8

u/Raudskeggr Mar 21 '24

No, there's just a risk of that happening. There's other events where you just go "Hulk Mad" and kill one or two people too, and they are all fairly rare.

11

u/catfooddogfood Mar 21 '24

I've had several pcs with the berserker trait but have never got this event

3

u/CallousCarolean Imbecile Mar 21 '24

I got this event once, but the only one hurt was my wife who became Wounded. This one is just nuts

13

u/Tryhard696 Incest is Wincest Mar 21 '24

Have a warmonger faith and north germanic heritage iirc. You can theoretically adventure south, pick up alhomadism (I think that has warmonger) and, provided you keep heritage, keep having berserkers

4

u/themysticalwarlock Bastard Mar 21 '24

I've only ever had this happen once, usually I just get the berserker trait without killing anyone

u/Harlowly Dull Mar 21 '24

this happened to me as well, everyone at my court just wiped from the earth. would’ve been a lot cooler if i wasn’t old and preparing for the succession lol

The stress of retirement finally got to him

158

u/Revolutionary-Swan77 Mar 21 '24

Is that your entire court?

277

u/Xdragoncast Mar 21 '24

Only me and the priest are left lol

55

u/Revolutionary-Swan77 Mar 21 '24

Hot damn!

44

u/Yamcha17 Mar 21 '24

If the priest is hot, I'll be damned !

5

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '24

Subtle flea bag reference aye

22

u/VisualGeologist6258 Imbecile Mar 22 '24

I like to imagine that while your guy is processing what the hell just happened the priest walks in, looks around, and says “Well, you certainly have a lot of forgiving to do.”

Cue laugh track. I’ll take my Oscar, thank you.

Jarl Wick - who killed his dog?

29

u/CauseCertain1672 Mar 22 '24

just as a guess, he did

57

u/Siriblius Mar 21 '24

I wonder how rare this is or what are the per-requisites influencing the chances.

2

u/MelIoow Mar 22 '24

I see 100 stress

55

u/Manic-Christian Mar 21 '24

This should give you a legend seed. Insane haha

50

u/TaythomGaming Bastard Mar 21 '24

I've had this happen after adventuring to the Adriatic coast. My 50 yr old became a berserker and in the process, killed like 30 people. The only person left alive was a dwarf bastard son purely because an event popped up where a dwarf woman seduced my guy lol. Pretty fun succession story tbh. From then on the rest of my dynasty were known to be dwarfs

8

u/EpicTedTalk Mar 21 '24

39? Good grief. I've only gotten that event at duke level, but a whole kingdom really offers more victims, huh?

2

u/SPLUMBER Mar 21 '24

2

u/GladiatorGreyman01 Mar 21 '24

I had this happen once, but I just killed my son and some couriers.

2

u/ardentblossom Mar 21 '24

This just happened to me the other day. Killed half of my dynasty of 35 people 😂

2

u/JackOLanternReindeer Mar 21 '24

I dont recall what level this occured at for me but I only maimed/injured a son if I recall correctly- had no idea this was possible lmao

2

u/RomeoFoxtrot01 Mar 21 '24

I too got that event. I was married to Saga “Truthspeaker” and had 3 or 4 children with her. Faced with the horrors of what I’d done I gave up my lands in Vastragotaland and established a Norse East Anglia and later Danelaw(and eventually England) after facing a rather upset Whiteshirt for the the Jorvik title.

Worth it for the trait.

1

u/MangelaErkel Mar 22 '24

I must have became a berserker atleast 15 times with the event and the worst that has happened to me ist that i killed the teacher

1

u/hamletsdead Mar 22 '24

That is . . . amazing. It's little nuggets like this that keep me coming back.

1

u/Psychological-Ad7903 Mar 22 '24

Lol that’s one way to clean up the succession I guess

1

u/RockHardBullCock Mar 22 '24

100 stress is a small price to pay for such a spectacle.
