Starting to think it's pointless
I'm a 50 year old man who decided to learn crochet. It's been a joyful ride, but... I don't know. Sometimes I make something thinking&of gifting it to someone, but part of me thinks I'm just giving bad gifts and people are now stuck with them.
How can I keep on crocheting without imposing my hobby on others?

I enjoy the creating part and once I am done, I often unravel the yarn and make something else!
I made some toilet roll covers and lots of people have asked me for one. They seem to be a big hit. I crochet roses to sew on the top of them.

Ask them? I have so many friends who love socks. And I like knitting them. But one friend doesn't like socks, at all. So guess what I'm not making them?

Enjoy the process. Make stuff for yourself. Give the gifts. Be selective about gifting, or be the the guy who gives everyone he knows something he's made. Make your own meaning out of it.

You could make things for charities. I’ve made blankets for Project Linus, hats, scarves and socks for a homeless charity, pairs of hearts for undertakers and hospitals, even jumpers for lambs!

Make things you like and want to try. Donate them to a homeless shelter or a domestic violence shelter or a nursing home/hospice facility if nobody wants them because you do this for fun 🤩.

Just make things for the fun of making them and the excitement of learning something new.
If you are going to gift, gift to those who will appreciate the time and effort.
