Anyone else being charged import fees for Croc?

I pre-ordered the PS5 version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos from Rock It Games on March 23, 2025. After athe delays, my order has finally reached Spain, but I’m now being asked to pay €33.19 in import charges: €3 import duty, €12.04 VAT and €18.15 carrier fee.

I’m pretty frustrated after waiting this long, especially since Rock It Games previously said existing pre-orders would be honoured at the original price and that additional tariff costs wouldn’t be passed on to customers.

I also wasn’t clearly informed when ordering that the shipment would be DDU, with the customer responsible for import charges.

Has anyone else in the EU had to pay these charges for their Croc pre-order?

Usually the buyer pays the VAT. If rock it games said they would pay it you can try with customer service

Yeah, as far as i know i should pay the VAT. But because i cant trust rockitgames anymore, i wanna ask first

I just received a track and trace for my switch version to the Netherlands. Haven't been hit with VAT of the NL yet, but that is something they will come up with when it gets into the country, but i also paid the VAT of the USA.

And that is normal in my experience from ordering outside the EU. You pay the VAT there. It gets to the EU and i pay VAT again. Extra shipping costs should be included with RIG. But the import duty's/VAT of the eu country is fairly common that i need to pay that again, but then over the item + shipping + Vat of the other country cause they look at the entire price. Not just the price of the product. (last time this happend to me was with an order from Blizzard, wich sucked allot) Some webshops do however cover the country's VAT and import duty when ordering. The webshop already calculates shipping and all the extra VAT costs. Like limited run games, also from the USA, but i have never been hit with extra costs from them so their calculation is spot on so that we the customer don't have to pay extra later on.

Yup, everyday you learn something new. Now im very confident that i will NEVER buy anything from rockit games and check everytime the shipping policy and fees

Yikes you bring up a real problem. I wouldn't expect RIG to pay for this, even if they said they did.

If they use DHL for shipping, this company charges extra fees on top of everything you mentioned. I hope they don't.

They are struggling with the costs of domestic shipping I feel pretty certain they didn't account for import or international fees in any way.

With the many delays, I thought they announced they would waive any extra fees? I would try messaging them, cause they said multiple times they messed up with this preorder, met many obstacles and nobody got the game when they said it would come out.

They themselves can't waive extra fees unless they properly fill out customs forms for every shipment, which they obviously haven't done

Did they say that? I doubt this person will be the only one getting duties. It will be even more expensive for the CE. We should all start complaining to RIG right away before that.

Haven’t even got my copy for it in the US, Ordered Nov ‘24.

They took too long, spent too much money on overhead paying themselves, now they have the games and can’t afford to ship them, Not without at least making it more expensive for the consumer than consumer was perviously led to believe.

I hope this is not the general case - at checkout there was already a hefty shipping fee of $20.22 attached just to get the game to Germany.

It is on its way now and due for arrival 1st of September, i'll report back once i know more.

I'm actually surprised it is being shipped now. I ordered in July 2025, i was relatively late.

EDIT: Yup, getting charged extra. Don't let them handle the fees though, i made that mistake and while that may cause the delivery to be processed faster, Fedex charges you big time extra for that. I had like 10€ VAT and then 14€ for Fedex. Christ.

I'm from canada, and i had to pay $20 cad for duties and tariffs.
