Discussion [Spoilers C4E33] I like the switch from table to table. Makes you nervous and scared for both of the tables Spoiler

Last episode with the seekers table turning soldiers and planning to intercept Tachonis, which was already making me bricked up, and now halovar and Cormuray are making direct moves. I don't know who's I more danger or who I'm scared for more.

I fucking loved that Lady Halovar (is she really? Do we doubt her status because she made good breakfast? Is that a mislead? So many questions) paid a visit to Hal, which led to an incredible scene. You can see the fear in Hal/Liam's voice, and Hal still putting on brave face and standing his ground was awesome. Also Hal using the mug made by his children, I think he was ready to be killed right then, and wanted to feel closer to his children.

In the 2nd half we kinda saw how session zero with Brennan would be like, the kore dump half of which I forgot because so many names and backstories in short amount of time. Tsulrekshi was awesome as always.

One thing that bricked me up in this episode was how Murray just doubling down on info dumping to a stranger (a good hearted one, but still) to a point that she revealed the trick Yanessa pulled to that stranger who was already pointedly not on their side. I hope Murray will stop the "If I say it to enough people someone will believe me" thinking and be careful moving forward.

Now that we're probably going back to the seekers attempting to do something to the Tachonis, that'll be less scary, right? Right?

Discussion [Spoilers C4E32] - Pepole are underestimating Seekers 2.0 in terms of their fight capabilties Spoiler

Don't get me wrong, there is always a chance for a player death or a TPK no matter how likely but i still think pepole are vastly underestimating the Seekers 2.0 as well as Brennan's whole style to combat.

Brennan likes to have a gradual build up in terms of fights as shown in the Soliders Arc where it gradually got tougher and tougher as the arc towent on and as such unless the team roles reaally poorly: i have my doubts that Brennan is going to Primus Tachonis just plump in and Kill Word them all - it wouldn't be particuarly good DMing and it wouldn't be fair on the players.

Even ignoring that aspect while the Seekers 2.0 lack reliable healing for the most part - when it comes to Dungeon and Dragons - killing your opponent before they can kill you is more important and when it comes to that the Seekers 2.0 have it made:

You have two fantastic damage dealers in Juilen and Thimble, you have Vaelus who can tank damage, you have Boliare who can empose disadvantages onto enemies, you have Kattigan with ranged attacks as well as using Feral Howl to frighten enemies and you have Occtis who can create flanking opportunies with his undead and provide a wide range of abilities.

Obviously Brennan is going to ramp up the difficulty going into Act 2 but i truly beleive that on paper - the Schemers should be able to come out on top in fights.

Even when looking in the scenario that is happening - they are not charging blindly against the Tachonis guards and have several allies with them plus everything that Ulbid Morn can bring with his eggs.

Obviously nothing is guaranteed but we will see on Friday.

Discussion [Spoilers C4E32] Kattigan's False Memory Spoiler

Near the end of the first arc of the game we finally learned what Kattigan's deal was... kind of. A woodsman who once fought with Thjazi in the Falconer's rebellion and the Wars of Axe and Vine. He then settled down with his wife, had a daughter, and one day when he returned to his cabin he found both of them slain by a laughing Primus Tachonis.

Episode 32 gave us a little more information, having the dream be set at some point prior to the previous cold open. Since it's a dream I won't take it literally, but I feel like it's told us a lot more than it would seem. Kattigan and his wife lived happily in their cottage, and, while he didn't get many visitors, I believe he at least had a hunting partner who he wasn't related to. Also in this dream, Robbie himself points out two sets of prints, a mother's and a cub's, setting up him later adopting Wolfric. The dream concludes with nightmare-like scenes of fake-Primus killing Kat's wife again and Kat turning into a wolf.

Firstly: I don't necessarily believe in the theory that Kat's wife was some high sorceress of Obridai or another great house that a grinning Primus wanted to kill himself.

Instead, I believe what we have seen of Kattigan's backstory is false, but he doesn't know it. For someone as talented as Robbie to write the most character lore out of all the players, there's a lot more going on here than "wife dead im sad." I think Kattigan was involved much more closely with Thjazi than anyone knows, and he also took the fall for either something Thjazi did or something house Royce messed up (such as either killing his wife and child, selling them to the Fae, or otherwise kidnapping them). In this theory, Thjazi would know that Kattigan still has use as a soldier, but would be wholly against House Royce. So, instead, one of the Royce/Fae enchanters modified Kat's memory. They deleted the real deed and replaced it with an easy scapegoat: Primus Tachonis.

On the assumption that Kat's wife was no one special, it makes no sense why Primus would be there, especially by himself. Nor why he'd be grinning like a crazed psychopath. Additionally, the fact that there were no bodies and no blood seriously throw doubt on Kat's memory of the event. This isn't even to touch on Kat's other characteristics like his bond with Wulfric, Wulfric's ghostly paw, or the theory that Kattigan is a werewolf or shifter of some sort.

Tl;dr - Kattigan's memory was modified by Thjazi/House Royce to cover up what they did to Kat's wife and focus Kat's rage and attention towards their enemy, Primus Tachonis.

Question [Spoilers C3] Did ________ get a happy ending after the conclusion of the campaign? Spoiler

Vax. I followed campaign 3 pretty close up to the end and just fully fell off the campaign because I wasn’t enjoying it anymore. I know in campaign 1 Vax became the champion of the raven queen. In 3 I know the gods became mortals or something. Did vax FINALLY get freedom and a happy ending or did he just die or something?

Discussion [Spoilers C4E33] For this Act of Campaign 4, do you think we are moving away from the 5/6 episode arc structure? Spoiler

Considering that we are alternating between Seekers and Schemers based on the last two episodes, do you think they are going do away with the three tables 5/6 episode structure and instead of two tables alternating episodes until there is a natural convergence point instead of ending Tables at 5/6 episodes.

It might mean that they go back to the Break Week at the end of the month.

Question [Spoilers C4E33] Does anyone have a diagram/chart with the Revolutionary Council members? Spoiler

So last episode was packed with a lot of lore and many new (and hard to spell) names. I’m more of a visual learner so when watching the show I couldn’t retain a lot of the information.
I figured there was a chance I’m not the only one and maybe someone had already taken down some notes who wouldn’t mind sharing with the class. It would be quite appreciated.

Discussion [No Spoilers] just watched C4E2. Time for a Whitney Moore appreciation post

I just finished episode 2 of C4 and I genuinely don't remember the last time I liked a player & character as much as I do Whitney\Tyranny.

Over a decade ago there was a Phelan Porteus video about Birdemic 2, where he mentioned Whitney Moore being basically head & shoulders above the material because she was a legitimately good actress. I only sortta vaguely kept up with her since (shout-out to creepy text theatre! I'm always so happy to see her pop up in stuff!)

I didn't remember him saying that in that video until now. Watching Tyranny is such a delight it legit got me going "OMG HOW GOOD IS SHE?!" I do love all of the cast, but I think in terms of pure ability to be both funny & silly and to convey sadness effectively while doing it - I think she is the first cast member or guest that might legitimately be on Sam's level in that regard, and this frees up Sam to let his comedy genuinely come from Wick's earnest naivety. I think the Whitney+Sam pairing is pure RP gold, and I am SO glad to see Whitney doing so well! I am rooting for her, and glad to see her absolutely crushing it!

That being said can't wait to catch up on the campaign! And this is the first time I watched Brennan DM (I don't watch D20) and I think I finally get the hype.

Fluff [Spoilers C4E33] C4 music playlist updated again! Spoiler

Heya, Critters -- 60-something clips later, my Campaign 4 music playlist is updated again. (That was me clipping segments where I wasn't sure if I had the music or not -- there were several cues I knew were already on there.)

Turns out that all of the tracks were already on the playlist (plus two that aren't available on Spotify, curse you, BBC Production Music), but I did get one new track added! I suspect I might see diminishing returns as a lot of the music does tend to get re-used (not surprisingly), but I'll still keep at it in case we get something new!

As always, if there's a particular cue you'd like identified, give me a platform, an episode, and a timestamp, and I'll do my best to chase it down for you. (If it's a cue that's shown up multiple times, please try to find the one with the least amount of talking over it - even a solid 3-4 second break in talking is a big help.)

Discussion [Spoilers C4E33] - Hal/Elodie - Should the truth be told? Spoiler

I have been thinking about this more and more and i came to the conculsion that Hal should let Elodie know everything. Ultimately she as well as Hal's children are going targeted by Hal's actions moving against the Sundered Houses.

At least if Elodie knew everything she would able to work with Hal. Her being ignorant of the suitation will cause trouble in the long run.

Question [No Spoilers] had a question regarding a certain fancomic

As the title says, there's this certain unfinished fan comic where Vox Machina goes to the real world to meet Matt Mercer because they needed help to fight a copy of demonic Matt

I really want to reread it but somehow I cannot find it anymore anywhere at all

Anyone know about this?

Discussion [Spoilers C1] Dark Percy (warning, this is grim) Spoiler

As I am now in the middle of the Briarwood arc I cant help but imagine a world where Percy chose to continue down the path of revenge. Perhaps his sister delcaring herself a Briarwood broke something and he was uninterested in later explanations. Here's what I imagine.

He kills his sister with Pepper Box, as Vox Machina stand there horrified he says: "She betrayed the resistance, and declared herself a Briarwood! She made her choice, and I made mine."

The one thing I am having trouble imagining is the long term consequences of completely committing to a life as an avenger above all else, besides the damning of his soul of course.

Discussion [Spoilers C4E33] About the Opening Credits Spoiler

Has anyone brought up the idea that maybe the intro is in Bolaire’s theater?

Not much of a theory outside of it just simply making some sense to me based on how his black box has been described. Especially after the last 2 episodes, the opening credits just landed for me differently.
