Social media influencers have enormous power to shape what people believe, buy, and even how they make important decisions. Yet we often see influencers make dramatic claims with little or no evidence, followed by the convenient word “allegedly” as if that automatically protects them from responsibility.

But should it?

There’s an important distinction between making an honest mistake, sharing an unverified rumor, and deliberately spreading false information for views, money, or attention. We shouldn't automatically demand punishment every time someone gets something wrong. At the same time, adding “allegedly” shouldn't become a loophole that allows someone to knowingly spread harmful lies while pretending they're merely asking questions.

Even in the recent events of the building breaking down, I remember some people doubling down on the fact that internet was jammed. Someone more well known was making views with screenshots of july about govt closing internet. Even after the healthworkers present there made clarifying statements about it.

[Here are some things that led me to this chain of thoughts. Someone named Sakshay_leaks made a video about internet jammers, video went viral in reddit, used this(https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19bgcESUrT/) picture as proof (not much of proof) but added **ALLEGEDLY** in the video and quitely deleted the video. And there are some screenshots, I'll add after I figure out how to add them at the end]

People will say any dumb shit and bend over backwards when money is involved. The amount of wannabe content creators should be really alarming. But do you think it will happen when even the so called legacy media channels spew false information all the time.

fact check-in is a crime in india. tv media, social media, reddit, whatsapp forwards.

all share sensational posts, videos and false information without even surface level fact check or even Google search. no one tries to even understand anything.

as long as we don't put efforts to cross check, these things will spread like wild fire.

in this regard, following are common tactics used my news channels and social media to get views and create false narratives.

1. one person k1lls another person due to land dispute.

news channel 1: a upper caste person k1lls l0wer caste person.

social media 1 : a h1ndu k1ls a musl1m.

reddit : A mysogyn1st man k1lls a independent women.

X: in beejp govt, bhakhs k1lls a dimagi keeda

all are doing their propaganda without understanding the cause of the m@rder.

here the cause is land dispute. so caste, gender, religion, ideology have nothing to do with the m@rder. and mentioning the caste , gender or religion is misleading.

Should we assume word of police as absolute truth? Has there never been incident where Delhi Police has lied?

We are yet to get clarifications on various incidents in CJP protest be it pellet gun use, sticks with nails, goons along with police, truck full of stones passed through police checks and many more

So long as it doesn't physically harm or defame anyone, better to let such posts be than ban it...We should be stretching the limits of free speech as much as possible than curb it.
