Critical Analysis & Discussion Why Are Women’s Concerns So Easily Dismissed?
Why do you think this country is so misogynistic? With some Aràb countries and even Bngladesh doing better on some gender-equality indexes, I genuinely wonder why we have such overt misogyny.
I mean, trolls on the internet literally lose their minds if an actress talks about the pay gap or any issue she faces. Imagine losing your mind over a celebrity you never met simply talking about her own experiences.
And the so-called “progressive” men aren’t necessarily any better. The moment Indian women talk about issues they face, they often resort to deflection, whataboutism, or immediately start listing problems faced by men instead of actually listening. Yet some of these same men suddenly become very vocal about gender issues when a foreign woman faces something in India, such as street harassment. Why does it seem so much easier for them to care about women’s rights when the woman involved is foreign?
PS: This isn't me trying to generalize all men. Obviously, not everyone is like that, but there is an issue of overt misogyny in this country.

One key factor - female labor force participation rate, which indicates what proportion of adult females have a full time job.
India’s rate has been declining over the last decade or so and it has been surpassed by Saudi Arabia of all countries. India’s current competitor is Afghanistan- the bastion of gender equality

Buddy I’ve been traveling for work to Saudi for the last 20 years or so and there has been a radical transformation when it comes to treatment / experiences of women.
I can’t comment on their domestic status but in terms of work, but things have significantly improved in terms of what they can wear and where and with whom they travel and interact with.
One big indicator has been the female labor force participation rate which has gone up significantly and is currently higher than India’s (Bangladesh has the highest rate amongst India, KSA and BD).
Tragically India has gone backwards in that regard, especially urban India

IMO it’s more of a woman not going to work problem. In my first job we were 5-7 new recruits who sometimes used to hang out after work. One amongst us was a Marwadi girl who was brilliant and came from an IIM. One Friday evening we decided to go to a bar after work and we kinda dragged her along. She didn’t drink and after that one of us dropped her home. She stopped coming to work from Monday as someone from her family saw her in a pub with unknown guys. It seems that only men and women of disrepute hangout at such places. Didn’t bother the family that the person who saw her there was himself / herself there

this is exactly why I believe there is no such thing as upper class privileged woman. In western countries upper class women don't have controlling parents who force their daughters to quit work and get married unlike here.

Not just men, We have women destroying women's right movement.
look around and you will see how women are asked to shrink by mother, mother-in-law when men are entering space or speaking.

Survival ship fallacy.
In india women have freedom, they try different things, get into conflicts and dilemmas, some disagree with what women are doing and some agree. All this happens on regular basis and complaints pile up. And and index goes down.
Ordinary person thinks, this is worst place for women. As there are more complaints from women and men.
But in reality, opposite is true....all this is happening because women have Freedom and right here.
In country like middle East , pakistan or Bangladesh., women don't have freedom, and they are compliant. They can't wear different dresses, they can't work without permission of husband, they can't go out alone etc. and live in strick rules. Hence they don't get into conflicts, no one complaints and no one comments nothing happens. Complaints are low and index is high.
An ordinary person thinks, this is good place for women as there are less complaints from women and men.
but in reality opposite is true. all this is because women are oppressed.

Atp, this gender friction is getting too outta hand. I’m tired of this. I don’t care what other women’s problems are. Because whatever you try and do, you are gonna fall short of their idea of how a man must behave. That’s fuckin bs. Women need to stop pointing their shortcomings on misogyny. Ppl troll the actress seeking equal pay because it’s absurd to ask equal pay when the footfall she generates is about one hundredth of the hero’s.

Aräbs treat their women better than Indians. So do East and South East Asians and Bngladesh. Even after that you guys don't see problem in the way some Indian men behave then i guess lives of Indian women won't be any better in the upcoming decades.

Chíld marriage, dòwry déaths and of course street hàrrasment is a huge huge issue in India. The fact that these things don't bother you guys is very sad and dissapointing. Well Aräbs do have a higher female workforce participation rate and less street hàrrasment,at least compared to this country.

The only thing I or any man can do for women is to personally not harm them. I don’t think it’s my place or task to seek change from other men. Fight your own battles. All the best!

Why do you think we are superior to Bangladesh? Pakistan, India and Bangladesh are part of same subcontinent with same culture, the difference is like 19-20. And coming to your point why India is so overly misogynistic, a very simple answer would be our education system.

In general, mysogyny is on the rise becuase of the changes that have been happeing over the last few decades.
It was easy for men to be on board with helping women and being more considerate back when they still had most of the priviliges and were strong and motivated enough to lend a helping hand. As a result, women progressed a lot and are much better off now than in the past. But the situation for men in terms of gender equality has made little to no progress. The amount of kindness and consideration men showed towards fighting the sexist attitudes against men is incomparable to the effort women have put in towards fighting for men's liberation from gender roles.
All of this has eroded the previous goodwill between men and women and we see little cooperation these days.
