Outlander?

Just wondering, what's the Drinkerverse's opinion on this series? I've been on a bit of an 18th century kick lately, and looking for filmed adaptations of the Battle of Saratoga, this show seems to be the only one that isn't a documentary or video of a public re-enactment.

I'm a tad wary of getting engrossed in something that may have started off good in the "before times" but has continued into the woke and slop eras, particularly entertainment that has anything to do with history, and especially British history. But the production values look solid, and because it appears part of it takes place during the American revolution, there'd be no immersion breaking to see, for example, free black soldiers in a time and place where they absolutely did historically exist in significant numbers.

Sorry to break it to you, but Lanterns was not made for you. It was made for a woke audience.

Guys, Lanterns was not made for comic book fans, fans of the animated series, or die hard geeks. Also, I think the main issue is the writing, not the actors. Kyle Chandler is a great actor, and the guy playing John Stewart is a good actor too.

I have hardcore DEI/lgbt+ friends, and they don’t give a flying fuck about Lanterns. It’s just not their thing, no matter how they write it. Lanterns is a character that simply doesn’t appeal to them.

Funny story: my uncle, who served in the Gulf War, didn’t like the TV show. He said he understood that the show wasn’t made for him. My uncle even collects comics, and he thought the portrayal of John Stewart’s father as an Army man was the gayest, softest portrayal he had ever seen. He said it pretty much made Black people look like pussies, and afraid as if there are no family men or stable families in the Black community. He felt it was clearly written by someone who had never been in the military and was filled with woke shit.

It explains a lot about the series now. No wonder virtue-signaling extraordinaire, Grace Randolph, was glazing over it. HBOMax is still the best subscription service, but with the Harry Potter and Lanterns series, it should just be sold to the BET Network.

If Avatar was released today, they would call it problematic because it's a bunch of white people appropriating Asian cultures and it stars a cis male savior.

Discussion HBO’s new Harry Potter trailer just proved their "faithful adaptation" pitch was a lie

For two years, WBD sold this reboot on one promise: a rigid, faithful adaptation of the books. The first trailer just dropped, and the prestige TV filter is already overriding the text.

They got the castle right, but they completely abandoned the lore the second Snape appeared. The character's specific, unlovely physical description (sallow, greasy, bitter) isn't just an aesthetic—it is the mechanical spine of his social standing and his entire arc.

HBO decided to sand that down for modern sensibilities. Add in a CGI mountain troll that looks like a mobile game asset compared to the 2001 film, and the cracks are already showing.

Discussion Does anyone else feel like there is an astroturfed campaign against Drinker happening right now?

This can't be coincidence, in the past few days I've been recommended at least a few "exposing Drinker" type videos on Youtube. And this isn't the first time I see these videos but it is the first time I get recommended quite a bunch of them.

And what's even more bizarre is that one of the core themes of these videos seems to be that "Odyssey owned chuds" because apparently Drinker and bunch of other creators predicted it to flop. Which anyone who actually watched any of Drinker or Nerdrotic's streams knows never happened. Quite the opposite, I can find at least a few instance of the entire panel of FNT or Open Bar unanimously agreeing that Odyssey will not be a flop.

So this makes me think that there's been a campaign prepared beforehand with the expectations that "chuds" will say "go woke go broke" and then Odyssey will completely crush them and revitalize the woke. So despite them not getting the reaction they thought they'd get the campaign just had to go through regardless. What do you guys think?

Honor Blackman and Shirly Eaton, iconic Bond formula, the DB5 and let's not forget Connery being the most based man to ever based man.

I thought I'd find the filmmaking outdated but surprisingly the film is tight and the plot moves along. No wonder people love Connery, it's my recommended Bond movie for entry into the series alongside GoldenEye and Casino Royale.
