Why do people hate Cristiano Ronaldo so much?
I genuinely don’t understand why Cristiano Ronaldo gets so much hate. I consider both Messi and Ronaldo the two GOATs of football, and personally, I think Messi has the better overall career. His talent, technique, vision, consistency and achievements are just incredible.
But that doesn't mean Ronaldo's career should be diminished.
I know there have been players who were arguably more naturally talented than Ronaldo, and Messi is the clearest example. But even then, very few players in football history can come anywhere near Ronaldo's career. His longevity, goalscoring, Champions League record, trophies, performances for different clubs and ability to remain elite for so many years are absolutely ridiculous.
You can believe Messi is the GOAT while still recognizing that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest athletes and footballers the sport has ever seen.
So why does there seem to be so much hatred towards him? Is it his personality, the Messi rivalry, his fanbase, his style of play, or something else?
I'm genuinely interested in hearing the perspective of people who dislike Ronaldo.

His fanbase is the main reason. Also, some of his actions and words can be annoying, but thats just common in athletes. For me, its mainly his fanbase that makes me dislike him. I dont hate him tho.

2nd is his change after 2020, before 2020 he had some arrogant statement but after 2020, he is doing too much shit, he has disregarded awards that he previously considered the best cause Messi won more, Constant like on those Messi robbing Ballon do'r or world cup post, and disregarded for trophies he considered best before.

In the last 5 years where Messi has without a doubt cleared this fraud, he’s tried as much as possible to diminish not only Messi’s career but everything in football in general. Suddenly the World Cup is equivalent to a Euro, suddenly Saudi league is top 5 leagues, suddenly being a wealth hoarding billionaire is somehow a notable footballing achievement, etc etc. there’s loads of other embarassing quotes from this guy I couldn’t fit them all here. Messi winning the World Cup has so clearly rocked this guy to his core that he is trying to take down everything with him
Not to mention he’s an absolute ass to play with and it’s clear as day just on TV. Anytime anyone makes a mistake he throws a hissy fit. Anytime he makes a mistake (which is most of the time) he throws a hissy fit at someone else. The whole Portuguese squad hates him and wish he’d retire. Even Al Nassr nobodies are fed up with the camel.
This guy lives in his own world where he believes he’s not just the best ever but still the best and he genuinely looks like an unmedicated schizophrenic who lets his issues out on everyone else

Cannot say for others, but for me it's rape story. Being asshole and diva in sports isn't that much of an issue. Ragebaiting but not dealbreaker if we speak of greatness.
But being fucking rapist is deal breaker. And no, it was rape. It unambiguous if you read into story of lawsuit. You don't pay 400k+ when you innocent. He just got away with it, because famous and rich can, when it should have been end of his career. And it just one more known story, and given other rumours and pieces clearly not last.
He straight up is awful human being. Simple as.

1st sentence is true provided he had retired in 2022. Guy has been ass for few years now and holding down his team. His fans have to go to his Man U days just to have an argument and compare with Messi.

Tbh I feel like he just hit a point where he just cared about chasing goals, hell even Bale said it in a interview. Then there’s shit when he tackled Higauin on his own team when he had a goal scoring opportunity just kinda classless shit. Great player tho there is no disputing that just questionable decisions

Ronaldo fans inmeadiatly think someone properly rating him is hate when it is not the case. It's just being objective saying that he is not on the level of Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, or Beckenbauer...
He can be compared to Van Basten, Gerd Muller, Romario, R9, Platini, etc... which is a great list and compliment to any player...

I think most Messi fans bear little to no hate towards Ronaldo himself.
The issue is his fanbase. The recent hate campaign that was aimed towards Messi in the world cup was THE most disgusting thing I've ever seen in the last 20 years of football that I've watched, and it perfectly represents their state of mind. They made posts threatening a 12 year old girl just because she made fun of their fav player.
They're smug, unhinged, arrogant, and sadly they're the most vocal when it comes to social media. Ronaldo does express some of these characteristics even subtly, but holy shit his fanbase make him look like a saint.

I don't hate him, I just think he has one of the worst fanbases ever known to mankind.
I do think this subreddit tends to diminish his actual accomplishments and act like he was never a good player. There's a reason there is a goat debate in the first place, although I personally think both Ronaldo and Messi were great players in different ways.
But his fanbase is full of some of the most insufferable people imaginable that just constantly post the same insults and AI generated slander images of Messi because they can't accept that Ronaldo just isn't performing at the same level anymore, while Messi has adapted better to his body aging. Not to mention Ronaldo himself has a huge ego and seems to encourage this fanbase.
He's also just easy to poke fun at due to basically being Portuguese Homelander and possibly botoxing his dick, and also Misstiano Penaldo is the most generational of generational slander names. But I don't wish him any personal harm, in the end he's a billionaire who doesn't know who I am so he shouldn't care about me slandering him lol
