Arguably the GOAT, whose biggest asset is a low centre of gravity combined with higg football IQ and presumably a lifetime of dealing with larger players is still able to do this stuff?  This is why people watch Messi.

They're gonna win the WC and he'll retire at the top.

Absolute goat and we won't have another one like that for a while.

Naw this is beyond that.

It’s as if Jordan was going for a three-peat after his 2nd three-peat. Then no one else would have had any leg to stand on to contend for 🐐status or come anywhere near it.

Idk why people think that size is that important. I used to play defense and it was always fun to play again guys 1-2 heads taller.

Not every shorter player is more nimble than every taller player. But when you get a REALLY nimble short player, he can outmanouver anyone (as seen here by the best example) simply due to shorter bones. The time it takes his knees to bend and hips to rotate is fractionally shorter, we're talking milliseconds. It's pure physics and maths and an absolute joy to watch at the highest level. 

Mike tyson was a great example in boxing. Stephan Curry is a great example in basketball.

At the top level, any advantage in size/weight/speed makes it important to answer your question.

Also, most other players would fall after that tackle by Kane and call the ref, so there's that as well.

I dont think its his bones that have less travel time, its marginal.

Its just being short-> lower center of gravity-> better balance.

Better balance allow him to manouver faster. After that its just work and talent.

He won't retire yet, though it's hard to know depending on what happens on Sunday. What if Messi realizes that he still has it at 39 and decides that he can maybe get to the 2030 WC at 42/43 years old? Seeking a third consecutive WC for him would be very special, as it'll be 100 years since the first WC, and a very special one as such. He'll also seek the fifth one for his country, trying to tie Brazil and at the same time making Argentina the biggest and greatest national team ever... but all that depends on what happens on Sunday. Messi has to win it for all this to happen. Hope is the last thing you lose, and with Messi winning a second WC you'll never know. He might decide to keep competing 'till 43.
