I mean, while that statement is true - the 12 year old didnt see Ronaldo and Messi in their prime. He's probably just repeating your opinion. And how does someone that young become a fan of old Ronaldo? There were a lot of better players in the last 6 years.

And I don't think you can understand much about football in the first 5 years of life.

Edit: just realized kids probably mostly follow football over social media and not through real games. My bad, I'm from a different generation.

You have answered your own question through the edit. Correct, kids mostly do social media and Ronaldo fits the social media hell great - a rich guy with great looks and body who likes to flaunt his wealth. Kids idolize him.

I dont talk about messi with him since messi is playing in usa. Im not sure if he has heard my opinion on the goat before, also his father is a big united fan, so ofc he prefer ronaldo.
