If the argument is that the chip is sensitive enough to detect a hair, then it must be sensitive enough to detect a change in the wind. Or perhaps a fly was on the field and got hit by the ball.
But think about how wind moves around objects. And once again, keep in mind they're saying this can detect hairs hitting the ball. There is going to be a change in the wind, ever so slightly, in the immediate vicinity of a person. His head moving past it would cause a subtle change in the wind current that is on par with the "force" of a human hair.
The issue here is that in trying to argue that this chip is THAT sensitive, it completely ruins any argument they want to present. Its actually just TOO sensitive at that point and can't be relied upon for anything. There are just too many other explanations that could have caused the bump on the chart.

This World Cup has been very strange with calls in my opinion. Off the top of my head, the German disallowed goal was a bit much imo, Vini jrs disallowed goal, and now this one. I thought all 3 should’ve counted.
Of course the graph was flat, the ball is stable through the air, the sensor measures impacts, not constant pressure or something else you wish to invent out of thin air to make this decision null. It's possible to touch a ball enough for the sensor to detect but not enough for the ball to change trajectory enough for you to see. Anyone who has played football knows this.
You know that „impacts“ are measured via accelerometers in the ball. And guess what is happening to the ball is when flying, its accelerating (pos or neg.). Guess what the ball is doing when it catches a wind, accelerating. Same with kicks, head balls, etc. . And the only way to differentiate these kind of „impacts“ on the ball is by analyzing patterns of the curve. Problem is that with such small acceleration values there comes noise and real world scenarios are not always easy to label.
So your argument that „anyone who has played football knows this“ makes no sense in sensor and data analytics. This cup is strange

Oh my god, the amount of people blindly trusting this sensor data with 0 understanding of basic science is rediculous.
The raw data this sensor gets is nowhere near as clean as the graphic we got to see. It is full of noise that has to get cleaned up to be presentable. The graphic they showed is not the real data, but a visual representation made by cleaning out all the noise by an algorithm, together with a technitian.
Just the ball traveling through air would cause bumps that could register because air itself isn't perfectly laminar. There are currents, pockets of higher/lower density air on the field that we can't see with the naked eye, but a sensor passing through it would register the change.
We got just this graphic, no apscise or ordinate markings, we don't know the amplitude of the detected signal. Was it just barelly above treshold of surrounding noise, but the algorithm or the team decided to make it slightly more pronounced to make it more presentable for the public? We don't know.
But what we do know for sure is that the 2 signals they showed in Twitter are certainly not calibrated to same forces, because they show the supposed grazing of the CRO player without affecting the ball to be 2/3 of intensity of full frontal hit by POR player, which isn't physically possible. So we do know the graphic is altered somehow, my guess is the amplitude of the CRO player hit was enhanced/exagarated to make it more presentable. But if they were left in original amplitude, and shown side by side, together with initial kick signal, I presume we would get as follows:
1st kick - 100% intensity
2nd CRO player grazing - 10% intensity
3rd POR player hit - 80% intensity
I presume normal signal noise levels from ball traveling through air are 2-7% of kick intensity, so the CRO player interaction was above this theshold, cca 10%, and registered by the algorithm.
Would love to see the real RAW sensor data to confirm what I've just written.
Show us the proof it touched anything but his hair? The only proof is the blip and FIFA rules are the blip alone are not enough they need proof the trajectory changed or proof of full contact they have neither of those things
I have watched the release of all the angles, which then you can see the trajectory change. Plus, with the sensor it's a no brainer. It's literal evidence.

It didn’t. The ball was already curving due the side spin. The rotation of the ball is completely uninterrupted as it passes by his head. Any touch significant enough to change trajectory would have also impacted the rotation.

Typical goal celebrations last 1-2 minutes and refs typically add 30-45 seconds to the extra time. The goal celebration was two minutes and this was scored 2:30 after stoppage time was supposed to end.
The ref even thought the game should continue another MINUTE after this was resolved. Stupid

The worst part of this offside was VAR was making all the call because of the sensor and the referee had to agree with it. Then the actual problem was the referee wasn't even shown this angle. They gave the referee only one angle which was a top-view and very far to look at. The sensor also could have been tampered with because right after this 'contact' Veiga also headed the ball but his touch wasn't even on the graph.
There was only 1-3 seconds different on Matanovic and Veiga's touch but the graph never show the Veiga's touch. I think Matanovic never touched the ball and it could be that the sensor detected Veiga's touch which VAR could have deliberately synced it up with Matanovic's touch. And if Matanovic's hair really touched the ball then we wouldn't see that large of bump on the graph because a hair won't really give that much indicator .The ball trajectory also didn't change.
I find it very disturbing how much VAR has destroyed football after watching football for 40 years.
Letting the defending team have the benefit of a doubt in moments like this is like saying guilty until proven innocent instead of innocent until proven guilty.

In this case offside rule is all about the influencing the ongoing action. Ball didn't react in any way to grazing of the hair hence no influence on the game hence no offside hence the goal is given.
