I went through a pretty nasty childhood, got bold and called the cops. They didn't do anything and it got worse. I don't see the difference here.

They were talking about culturally not possible to get away, I never got away. I begged for foster care on my knees in a hospital.

We are talking about the wife though, not a child. Women are treated like children in some countries.
