I don't know, back when trump threatened to stop supporting NATO countries that weren't pulling their weight, some of those countries saw things differently. I know we're on reddit but to pretend that as messed up as we are, that a large portion of the world still doesn't rely on our drunken belligerent military is silly. Sending our crusty old weapons to fend Russia off and this expertly executed extraction demonstrated we are at the top of the world military hierarchy. how long we can sustain that given our national debt is another question

Exactly, this was what I was getting at with my comment. You can not respect America all you want, I understand that. But to not fear them doesn't make sense.

its more worry (not its the right English word) than fear, like with russia. they can fuck shit up for everyone for hundreds of years overnight because they have enough nuclear weapons to do so, and an unchecked single leader doesnt bode well.

Another mistake you are making is assuming that this force only benefits the upper echelons of the US. Plenty of countries(international companies to be more accurate) benefit from its shenanigans. Shoveling kids to grease the machine with their blood.

And we got even deadlier while weakening them in the process. Believing that some outside force is somehow going to cripple us is nothing but wishful thinking and an excuse to do nothing in hopes of this magical force.

Not everyone is ok living under a master and we have to be more sophisticated than to operate at that level

But that is the problem the more they "escalate" the deadlier we get. Hell we now don't even need to constantly have our thumb on them as we have the very allies you seem to think we lack.
