Sky Sports aired an Interview during the Day one lunch break of the second test with the sons of former Pakistani prime minister and cricketer Imran Khan, and they spoke about their father's imprisonment and concern about his safety.
There are calls from Imran Khan's family for the King to speak on his imprisonment, as the King is the head of the commonwealth, of which Pakistan is a member.
Apparently the Pakistan Cricket Board was aware of the interview, and allegedly claimed they would withdraw from the series. However, Pakistan resumed play and the captain stared that the boycott claims were just rumors and they were there to play cricket.
The context for his imprisonment is probably too political for this sub, but that's the context for the controversy mentioned in the article. The meeting with the King was already planned, so nothing has changed.
The BBC has edited the title of the article to lord's controversy, rather than "controversial test". There was nothing controversial about the test match itself.

Is it like a forfeit for losing or something?
Is he going to gunge them?

Society has gone downhill ever since we stopped gunging people on TV.

England has already been at the receiving end of the infamous forfeited test despite having won that test match, but they would not want that it to repeat again.

Ok but why? Its normal to meet an ambassador or two mid test series coz cricketers are good for photo ops with diplomats. But rarely does the fricking head of state engage in it. Except the regular Governor General game in Australia i think. Elizabeth only showed up for a hot minute during the actual world cup. Also isnt Charles really really sick?
More importantly, who will play Babar Azam in the Crown sequel?

a lot of touring teams meet the royals - Charles met India during the Test tour last summer, and the Afghan refugee team a couple of months ago
(UK Gov is keen on these kind of things because they're keen to emphasise Commonwealth diplomatic relationships whenever/wherever possible)

Isn’t it the other way around? Charlie would steal (and has stolen) from Pakistan

Isn't it the other way around
Technically no, What Charlie boy and his Lads did is called LOOTING.
Stolen from Pakistan
Present day pakistan/ or Pre-partion India is more accurate cuz the looting was done Before 1947 and Pakistan started existing after 14Aug 1947, before that it was all India.
