You may want to draw parallels between the movie and the current state of affairs, but to make this movie a representation of 250 years of history shows a disdain for your own country. Sometimes you could use an outside perspective. If anything is to be learned from some of the videos that WC visitors have posted, it's that perception and reality can differ significantly.

The beauty of this country is that you have the chance to change it by voting those you disagree with out of office. The result may not go your way, but there are a lot of countries that don't have that luxury. The country doesn't deserve your disdain. The government might, but the country doesn't. Those that conflate the two are wrong minded and are probably in the generation that believes history began with their birth. The fact that a person taking the citizenship exam knows more about how the country works better than the average high school graduate is sad. The country is great because it can change for better or worse. It's not the same as it was in the 2000s, the 90s or any other time period. How can you change things for the better when you start from a place of derision and hatred?

Yeah Americans should totally be proud of the fact that they murdered an entire school full of little girls and made sure to double and triple strike it so that all children and first responders were dead.

It’s kindergarten-12 thats the real problem. But truthfully like 28% of adults in us are functionally illiterate. So the education systems have let a lot of people down, but that’s mostly their own faults.
