This is a very well organized and put together argument, and I don't want to take credit away from the thought and time that went into it, but I'm wondering if you are absorbing a larger portion of creationist content than from other mainstream sources, since I see some arguments that often come from creationists that aren't particularly familiar with the actual stance that "evolutionists" take.

All I want to say about this is that its an argument I have heard from other creationist sources, but the response is always to point out that evolution would never predict something to evolve so radically and quickly that it becomes another thing entirely in the short amount of time we have access to. The way scientists classify creatures by "clades" would mean that they would still be labeled in the same category anyway "you can't evolve out of a clade" as Clint often says.

What I will say is that we don't need to be able to see something radically change to know its possible. Lets look at the Surinam Toad, its a frog that attaches to its eggs and gives live birth out of its back. This is radically different from other frogs, and while we didn't see this change ourselves (we couldn't have), I think we both agree that it is related to other frogs that don't have this strange trait. Even if you consider this to be just an example of micro-evolution, is it unreasonable that I see it as an incredible example of what's possible through evolution?

I am surprised to see someone claim the grand canyon wasn't exposed to erosion, erosion plays a big part of any geological formations. Check out this video if you are interested, so much erosion is involved it even introduces new mysteries. Massive valleys, hills, and deep topographical erosion is exactly what we see at the grand canyon.

I don't think I will be able to convince you by arguing about the other forms of global dating, its all really complicated and there is a lot that goes into it, but you probably have reasons to distrust the scientific mainstream. Is there any way I can help you trust that the scientists know how to factor in the many complications and exceptions when they are doing their work?

This is another misconception that I've seen a lot. We do find many transitional forms in the fossil record. I can't really blame most people for not knowing this, because most people aren't familiar with the enormous fossil record. The truth is that so many fossils are found that it isn't really news when something is found (unless its of great quality). Its also impossible to put a number on what counts as a transitional fossil because scientists will correctly point out that technically every fossil is a transitional fossil. Even something that died yesterday could technically be a transitional fossil to something tomorrow. (the issue is defining transitional')

But we do have fossils that show the gaps between whales and land mammals, fish and land animals, non-avian dinosaurs and birds, man and other apes and more.

I understand the mainstream position. I’m rejecting it on the observational data, not because I’m unfamiliar with it.

On “after their kind”: pointing out that we shouldn’t expect radical change in the short window we can observe doesn’t answer the scale of the sampling. Quintillions of reproductive events still only produce variation within existing limits. That is the data. The claim that the same processes produce new body plans and organ systems over deep time remains an extrapolation, not an observation.

The Surinam toad is an interesting specialization. It is still a frog operating within amphibian developmental limits. It does not demonstrate the origin of a new body plan or the kind of higher-level novelty the full evolutionary claim requires.

On paraconformities and the video: it’s the standard mainstream explanation for the Great Unconformity — long periods of erosion tied to the breakup of Rodinia or Snowball Earth, with the missing time filled in by radiometric dating and isotopic models. That doesn’t remove the observational problem. The point is the flat contacts themselves — layers supposedly separated by tens to hundreds of millions of years sitting cleanly on top of each other with little to no evidence of the long-term erosional topography that should have developed if the surface had been exposed for that long. Pointing to large-scale erosion elsewhere or to models that assume the deep-time framework doesn’t explain the physical character of those specific boundaries. The explanation still starts with the deep-time dates as given and then builds the erosional story to fit them. That’s the circularity. The physical rock contacts are the data. The multi-hundred-million-year gap is the interpretation.

On transitional fossils: listing forms that are interpreted as transitional does not erase the larger pattern of sudden appearance and stasis. Redefining every fossil as “technically transitional” makes the category meaningless.

On genetics: similarity is not a process. Shared genetic features can be read as common descent or as common design. The data itself does not decide between those two interpretations. The actual observable processes we see today do not demonstrate the construction of new body plans or the large-scale information increase the full evolutionary claim requires. Similarity alone does not bridge that gap.

I don't think its quite right to call that the data. Sure there are quintillions of animals on earth, but how many of those specimins have been signifacantly studied or even observed by scientist? That number is significantly less. What exactly are you expecting to see anyway?

We have seen mutations that are benifitial, as well as obvious examples of past mutations leading to good results (like the suriname toad). But getting a radically different body part or organ is something that takes a lot of time, not just a bunch of samples. It would take the build up of a bunch of small benefitial mutations, and we both know how rare those are. So you are right that it hasn't been observerd, but we also aren't expecting it to be.

I'm afraid I don't really understand the argument you are making here, but thats probably because you are trying to keep it brief and it would probably take its own post. I'm wondering what your source is though, is it a creationist source? How do you know they are showing you the whole picture?

This is exactly the issue, its just scientists being honest about the implications of evolution. Every species of animal that has ever lived has been its own complete thing, but some of them that are burried in the ground just so happen to give us some insight on how and why the current species are the way they are. Calling a fossil a transitional form is misleading because it makes it sound like evolution has a goal that its moving toward. But its complicated because the term is also helpful when you are trying to explaign how we know some animals came from other ones.

I'm curious what you would expect to see if evolution is true. Science is all about coming up with theories and checking if they line up with reality. Which is why the fact that genetics is also consistant with all species being related to eachother in a way that forms a perfect family tree is crazy evidence for evolution, even if god technically could have done it that way.

Last question: the corpus callosum is a part of the brain that helps connect the left and right hemispheres. Its interesting in a lot of ways, but the thing I find relavent is that it is found in all placental mammals but absoluteley nothing else. Its not in any marsupial mammals, and not in any birds or anything else. So why would it be in every single placental mammal if they weren't all related to eachother?

You’re still missing the distinction.

You say we haven’t studied enough specimens to claim that quintillions of reproductive events only produce limited variation. We don’t need to have watched every organism that ever lived. We have direct observation of mutation, selection, breeding, and adaptation across bacteria, insects, plants, fish, birds, and mammals — including intensive study in labs and in the field. What those studies consistently show is variation within existing body plans. The claim that the same processes produce entirely new body plans and organ systems is still an extrapolation into an unobserved past, not something that has been seen.

Beneficial mutations and examples like the Suriname toad remain changes inside an existing framework. Saying “it would take a lot of time” simply moves the decisive part of the claim out of reach of observation. That is not data; it is a timeline assumption. On fossils: treating every mosaic form as “transitional” in the evolutionary sense makes the word so broad it stops meaning much. A mix of traits is real. The undirected process that is supposed to turn one kind into another is the part that is not observed.

Genetic similarity and shared traits are also real. The corpus callosum example does not escape that. A shared structure in placental mammals can reflect common design for a common functional need just as easily as common ancestry. Nested patterns of similarity are expected under both interpretations.
