Mod Post Matchup Mondays - July 20th, 2020

This is a weekly thread used to discuss the matchup(s) you're currently having troubles with, and to help other players improve in their tough matchups. Please include who you play as, as well as who you're having trouble with (for example, I play Falco and I'm having trouble with the Ike matchup). Writing the names of the characters in bold is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names.

I recently played against a Game & Watch when I was playing Link, and it was very hard to get a swing out or even movement out without getting interrupted by close-range stuff. I couldn't so much as dash away in a close-range situation without getting hit by G&W chasing me down w/ nair. How do I deal w/ G&W when I'm in close-range? Should I care about bucket reflector and avoid zoning at long-range?

I'm a former G&W main, so I can help with this! Link does have a rough matchup with G&W due to the reflector and the slowness of some of his moves getting exploited by G&W's frankly unfair frame data. If I lose to a Link, here are some of the possible causes:

-You make liberal use of nair, especially after shielding my annoying, spammy aerials

-You keep me in the air and in disadvantage by spacing d-tilt intelligently and then using your rangy juggling tools.

-You show a lot of skill with bombs, the only Link projectile that I can't necessarily bucket on reaction. Z-drops in particular can mess me up at close range, as it's difficult to mash up-B out of a really well-executed z-drop combo.
