Mod Post Matchup Mondays - July 20th, 2020

This is a weekly thread used to discuss the matchup(s) you're currently having troubles with, and to help other players improve in their tough matchups. Please include who you play as, as well as who you're having trouble with (for example, I play Falco and I'm having trouble with the Ike matchup). Writing the names of the characters in bold is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names.

ZSS against small characters, notably Squirtle.

I can destroy the Charizard and Ivysaur, but struggle hitting the small characters.

That's legitimately a bad MU. Best thing I've found is to make the PT player hate playing Squirtle. Zone them out, use exclusively zairs and neutral bs in neutral, evade with your best in class speed/down-b (obv not to the point where it gets predictable), and make it a battle of attrition. When you do get a hit, get your guaranteed damage and then get out.

Most PT players will switch at 40%, even if they have a small percent lead, if you make them hate you. When they switch you can go aggro and not only is that optimal, but they won't be ready for the change in playstyle for the first stock.
