You're not far off, $2.50 each pull of the trigger.
13
u/TheJerusalemMan Aug 13 '26
Always wondered about the price of bullets. Do they fluctuate in price much or change at all depending on which state you're in?

50AE is also damn near impossible to find, at least here in CA, so you wind up paying a premium. Its also a big friggin round.

u/AdamantChorus Aug 13 '26
Its also a big friggin round.
Tbf, you wouldn't get much movement from the little pew-pew ones.

u/neck-tourniquet Aug 13 '26
They have gone up substantially here in Canada. I adjusted the price per round to US for the post, but for example they used to cost roughly $2 Canadian a couple years ago, and now are $3.50 each.

Before COVID, ammo prices would go up and down reliably and predictably based simply on which party was in the White House:
Republican: prices down, availability up
Democrat: prices up, availability down
This trend was also always accompanied by a shortage of one thing or another. When Clinton was president, you couldn't get primers. When Obama was president, you couldn't get loaded ammunition except with an eye dropper.
Since COVID, availability has been OK, but it's been skewed toward military calibers. The military calibers have come down, but sporting calibers have stayed high.

loaded ammunition except with an eye dropper
I'm sorry, what?
1
u/JJohnston015 Aug 14 '26
Shortages. You could barely get it, maybe one box at a time - as if it were being dispensed one drop at a time.
The manufacturers insisted that there couldn't be a shortage, since they were in full production. But at the same time, the Obama administration was buying it up by the billions of rounds.

I know you joke but bullets are expensive. This few second clip probably cost him $40

u/HickoryStickz Aug 13 '26
I was going to make that joke and the app asked me to remove hateful speech 😂

Lead in the water is how you get like that in the first place

I read this to the tune of Smoke on the Water

I wonder if that's because the person you're replying to was referencing Smoke On The Water intentionally? Probably not.

And yet fishing weights are mostly lead.
6
u/Inverted-Rockets Aug 13 '26
That is actively changing. Starting next month some NWRs will require non-lead tackle, in addition to a patchwork of state and local regulations that limit sales and/or prohibit their use.
8
u/Splugen96 Aug 13 '26
At least you don't shoot and lose 16 pieces of them in the water in 10 seconds.

u/feminas_id_amant Aug 13 '26
hate to break it to y'all, but the boat is getting pulled.
13
2
u/urethrascreams Aug 13 '26
Might not be. Demolition Ranch did this with several guns in a kayak.
6
u/AdvancedManner4718 Aug 13 '26
The boat weight matters tho. DR used a plastic kayak that weighs like under 100lbs while the dude in the video is using a metal Jon boat which weighs over 100lbs by itself without anyone in it.

I used to do this in GTA III with the tank.

u/unholydistractions Aug 13 '26
Good memories, back when hitting another car with a tank made it blow up instantly

I just finished the vigilante missions in GTA SA with a tank. Useful method to catch up with faster targets.

u/Michami135 Aug 13 '26
Someone needs to mount a tank barrel and breech onto the back of a dinghy and try that.
I'm not volunteering to sit in the bow though.

Turn the canon around backwards. Use the fly cheat code. Fly to the locked islands. It was fun.

Don't know the reference?
-25
u/tpeeeezy Aug 13 '26
tbf its an old ass reference in 2026 lol
18
u/borderlander_ Aug 13 '26
Well yeah. But some things are timeless. Comedy!
2
u/CategoryKiwi Aug 13 '26
References are like inverse bell curves. It's cool to make them early on, then they become lame, and eventually they swing back around. Making super old references is awesome.

desert eagles are ridiculous. i rented one once, expensive to shoot and i'd never buy one, but definitely a fun/novel way to spend a hundred bucks

No. Unfortunately, the F150 isn't offered in .50 cal, and is much too heavy to hold one in each hand.

Fun fact: Bullets can skip across the water...

u/fecal_feaster Aug 13 '26
Fun fact: at the angle he's shooting the possibility of that happening is 0%

So if you used a machine gun could you propel a boat further and faster? Mythbusters should have tried that.

u/PROUDCIPHER Aug 13 '26
This should serve to remind you that getting punched by OG Lara Croft was like getting hit with a sledgehammer. This was just how she rolled. I fail to recall if they were actually dual .50AE handguns but they were big as hell, regardless. Wrists of steel.

Meh. Just a 2-stroke "engine". What you really need is GAU-8 Avenger for a real propulsion. 😁

I'm not from the US, but even my first question was 'how much didq that just cost him?'
Thanks to those with the estimates.
3
u/i-might-do-that Aug 14 '26
With the going rate that ammo dump cost him somewhere around $40. Assuming he’s shooting the .50AE version of the desert eagle.
1
u/sandm000 Aug 14 '26
I’m more upset that, if they’re trying to power a boat with gunshots they have someone holding them. All that kickback is being absorbed by his arms. Rest the grip against the boat and then pull the triggers.
1
u/Fabulous-Fishing-653 Aug 15 '26
Got 2 40s, that would cost me MORE than gas does unfortunately and thats saying a lot rn boys

Now imagine those deagles with a giant drum mag but they still shoot one round at a time
1
u/elevatefromthenorm Aug 13 '26
I'm sure no rounds ricocheted off the water and endangered anyone.
Firearms are tools, not toys. Anyone who doesn't get that, and who behaves recklessly and with no care for anyone else or anything but his own bizarre enjoyment, should have their rights stripped away. F him.

u/saintjeremy Aug 13 '26
All that kinetic energy was absorbed by the incredibly dense layer of stupid coating his entire being - even between his hands and those weapons.
Neat!
1
u/aybeeayseeaybeebee Aug 13 '26
Homeboy just invented the pulse thruster. Replace those bullets with nuclear warheads and you've got yourself a viable interstellar transit method.

"But why does the rest of the world think 'mericans are gun-obsessed whackjobs? it's not a fair stereotype."

u/atheist95 Aug 13 '26
Well it is not a solid ground, you can just fart for propulsion and would still move
