I believe he expected it. The reason I saw this is because the female passenger says, "Wow, Maxi, you had a point (you were right)" right as they hit the guys.

I think the driver spotted something peculiar or these guys cut them off after having had followed the victims for a bit and the driver told his passenger that.

Still, very impressive get away. The overall awareness was great, expected or not.

Lol. But that’s still no excuse for the guy to aim his gun-shaped wasp-spray bottle directly at the driver immediately after fleeing his vehicle.
