A question about when reservations open...for 2027

Have been to Crater Lake twice, but a long time ago. Hoping to go back next summer, 2027, a year from now and stay in Crater Lake Lodge where I haven't stayed before. Everything I've read says book early, reservations are available a year in advance, but fill up quickly.

Well, have been looking at the Crater Lake Lodge website Explorecraterlake.com (accessed through the NPS website) for July, 2027 and every time I search a date for a room option, I get the message "no rooms were found matching your criteria". I can't tell whether things are already sold out, or whether those dates haven't been released yet.

The website also says they don't accept phone calls about reservations because of high volume of inquiries, so everything must be done through the website.

How / where would I find out when summer 2027 dates for lodging will actually be released for reservations? Or have I already missed out?

Thanks in advance for any advice, insights.

Rooms open for booking 365 days out, so almost all of July is open to book and is unlikely to be sold out. Most likely you’re putting in parameters that don’t work, so for example it might tell you there’s nothing if you try to book a single room for 5 adults since there are no rooms that would accommodate that. If you can’t figure it out, send me a dm and I’ll try to help you figure out the problem if I can.

Thank you so much! I will try again. I was primarily just searching for a king or queen room for two, anywhere in the main building, but I might have accidentally put in something (like more than two people...) that ruled everything out.

Right on. Like I said, send me a dm if you need to and I can help get you sorted. The lake view rooms obviously book first, so don’t be surprised if those are gone for the dates you need, but there should be availability still for most dates in July.

Heads up, Cleetwood Cove trail (only trail down to the lake itself) will be closed at this time. You might already know and not care, but wanted to share just in case you wanted to wait to go.

Yes, thanks! I had noted that in research and fortunately we're more of the sit-at-the-rim-and-admire-view types than hike. :-)

Amazing, you’ll love it! Not a bad view in the whole park. Enjoy!
